Scenario Conversion? (plus a few other questions)

By Ryno109, in Tannhauser

Hello Everyone,

I recently took the plunge and picked up a copy of Tannhauser. I figured there must be something to this game if it has such a loyal following and FFG was willing to put in the effort to re-work the rules. I must say, I'm rather pleased with the results. Having never owned the old rules, I like what the new rule set has to offer - not to mention the great storyline and cool figures. The different modes of play are also fun, but I was surprised to see that all of the scenarios in the book required expansion sets. I don't have any of expansions just yet, so I guess I'm out of luck for "story mode?" I'm a little bummed at this since the scenarios seem like they contribute a lot to the atmosphere of the game.

I was happy to discover that there a bunch of scenarios posted on the FFG website, but disappointed to discover they're all set up for the old rule set. So I can't play these either. With that in mind, my primary question is:

Are there any plans to convert the posted scenarios from the old rules to the new ones? Or has someone made such a conversion already?

Also, what about the other material posted on the support page? Most of the bonus tokens are dealt with in the new rules, but a few (holiday tokens and winter pack equipment) aren't.

And finally, I've heard FFG is planning on re-issuing Wolf, but what about Yula? Any plans or timeframe for a re-issue of her?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Unfortunatly, FFG has yet to give us a State-of-the-Game report, so there arn't many answers for you, only guesses.

I haven't gotten around to buying the new rules yet, but from what I've seen around here, I think the core game structure is basically the same. Most of the differences are in combat and movement and such. What I mean by that is that it should be relatively easy to play the "old rules" scenarios with the new rules, because most of the stuff described by the scenario is still be basically the same. You won't roll combat the same as how you would have, but I don't think that has a big impact on the playability of story mode.

Basically I agree with Steve-O, maybe some scenarios will be less balanced, but the changes were more like different dice throwing and such.
