Alternative Enemies

By TechVoid, in Deathwatch Gamemasters

Hello Fellow Battle Brothers,

I am interested if someone hast already changed some xenos creatures from the corerulebook? Did you increase some stats, gave talents or traits? Maybe we could present some xenos creatures in this thread and talk about the game experience?

Best regards,

TechVoid.

I combined the genestealer talents from Creatures Anethma with the genestealers stats from Final Sanction. Works better this way.

I did the same thing with the Lictor from Creatures Anethma (AKA, I made their rending claws do Final Sanction Genestealer damage).

It made the group MUCH more wary of Genestealers and Lictors.

Against a group of 5 space marines, it ramped up the difficulty of tyranid encounters rather nicely.

To date the book genestealer has been murdering my group with hit and flee tactics and sneak attacks.

I tend to let the creatures set up ambushes and the players haven't caught on yet that they need to be scanning with auspex.

Now my group has been wholesale slaughtering Hordes of IG equivilent stuff. I believe the Horde rules need some work as they present either too much or not enough challenge depending on how you read them.

I would give genestealers swift attack to represent their natural affinity to close combat, or maybe step aside to make them a harder target.

I have this really strong desire to do a campaign based around the Necrons -with other stuff mixed in to keep it from getting repetitive. The only problem is trying to decide on the statistics and capabilities of them. Has anyone else even tried do a write of the various Necrons?

darkreign.com has lots of enemies that could pose threats to the DW necrons have been covered by several people with a little tweeking they should make a nasty/nice surprise

I would make them with true space marine stats and space marine armor. From Beyond(trait)// Machine (x) // Hardy// Strong Minded// True Grit// etc

If you take a look around the DH boards you should find some Necron stats; or you just buy "The Emperor Protects" to see from very familiar looking enemies (that are not called Necrons, but look really, really like them...) and from their stats it should be easy enough to work out the rest of the types. One of the human NPCs has a Flayer rifle (very nasty).

The basic Lictor is a fate point burner coming out of ambush. I took out 2 players in 2 different ambushes because of it. They dont need to be upgraded.

Cover in terrain and ambushes can work for hordes too, GM call there though.

Guardian of the Tomb are Tomb Spiders and the Spectral Harbingers are Wraiths . And, yeah, the " eldritch cult weapons " are pretty butch;

  • Flayer Rifle
  • Particle Emitter
  • Wraithblade

Each is rather brutal in their own way... And now, if you are the type who often speculated on what the C'tan Phase Sword should be like, the Wraithblade may be a good place to start.
