Right before the holidays, I know that 100 Y/W was getting scarce. It is very probable due to the holidays that other expansions are now gone or more scarce.

From what I understand, FFG is going to continue all the expansions and has acquired all the molds as part of the deal with DOW. However, I also know that DOW printed most of the expansions at the same time even though they were released piecemeal. So it may be possible that FFG is waiting for a few more expansions to be sold out before they reprint all of them.

Spring time is supposed to give us more news. And hopefully the web master remembers to incorporate their printing schedule on this new site. Though not always accurate due to slippage, it was one of the best pieces of info in the gaming world.

Out of print is a misleading term. Technically every game is out of print the second they finish the print run for that batch of games. It was used in the past to signal an item that a manufacturer had no intention of printing or making again, or had finished printing. You can find copies with a variety of retailers/distributors long after web sites now say these things are out of stock/print. A good exampole of out of print would be most games released by Avalon Hill since Hasbro got hold of them. Realistically Battlelore is better described as being between print runs as its a popular game (lets be honest, FFG wouldnt have purchased it had it not been worth buying and re printing) Anything you find you cant get (other than promo's) is likely to surface again once FFG get around to it. The real problem there from my personal guess would be that FFG have released so much recently it seems hard to fit it into the release program. They have been very busy with releases just recently, and at a time when the Economy everywhere is slowing down. I am fairly sure they will release these again and we just need to be patient.

I was thinking about purchasing this since I have a gift certificate at the local game store. However I think I'm going to hold off for a bit and see if FF announces a new edition or printing sometime within the next few months.

I know that when they aquired Talisman they made the revised version different enough that an upgrade kit was needed to bring the old print up to speed. I figure by waiting I can avoid a similar situation in Battlelore.

Just personal opinion here but the old Talisman needed a spruce up on the rules as it hadn't changed much since its first launch many many years ago and had loads of expansions new characters etc and really felt like a game from the eighties that had had bolt-ons added to it.

Battlelore is last in a long(ish) line of games (Battle cry, ancients, memoir 44 came first) so its had lots of time to be tested and is still pretty much at the stage of just cementing the base game (battlelore, epic, call to arms) and only touched the tip of possibilities (only 4 creatures and expanded goblin / dwarf units) no new races yet.

So in short Talisman was ripe for a make over Battlelore ain't gui%C3%B1o.gif

i'm fairly sure i recall them saying that the new printing would basicly just have the ffg logo in place of the dow one.

I'm not actualy sure what they would change about it other then that. the box is solid and they have a bunch of people just waiting for new content.

ImpendingFoil , I wouldn't hold my breath on this, but I think if there was any change other than the logo on the box, it would be the addition of the Hill Giant and/or Earth Elemental creatures to the base game. I think that would go a fair ways towards building some goodwill - assuming it didn't radically affect the cost of the game.

www.battlelore.com is still a Days of Wonder site. As they sold/transferred all remaining stock to FFG, they are out of stock. The two monsters (Earth Elemental and Hill Giant) were promo figures, so they are more difficult to get (or more expensive). The expansions you mentioned are also out of stock at ffg, but may still be available in shops. Troll and Toad (if you live in the States) still has Dwarven Battalion Specialist Pack and one of the monsters available according to their website. Thoughthammer has the dwarven battallion expansion. So you may still find the expansions (probably the specialised brick and mortar game stores are your best bet).

As others have said, I don't expect FFG to change much of the base game. Most bets seem to be just the Logo. I think you are denying yourself a good game waiting on the unknown. If FFG changes anything, it would probably be how they handle any future releases of new expansions.

I stil hope they would start to sell the elemental and giant seperately. Or to come to think of it they should

put out a creature expansion with these two included!
