Hi everyone!

After hearing about this game and doing some research, I'm very tempted to start playing. I'm planning on getting the core set and some asylum packs to get myself started. However, due to the large number of asylum packs, I don't have a clue on where to get started. So my question is "What are some fun Asylum packs that would suit a new player?".

I care more about which packs are the most fun, over which packs are the best competitively.

Well, the sold-out packs are quite competitive (explaining why they are sold out).

If you want to go for fun to play (wise choice in my opinion), you need to be more specific about what kind of techniques you find fun.

I would suggest checking out the online card database over at javascript:void(0);/*1287277990050*/ You can do a search for different APs and see what cards are there.

Or you can pick the faction or sub-types or whatnot that you like, see what cards show up and look at what APs they come from.

Do you have any idea regarding what factions or play styles you are interested in? That would go along way toward determining what to buy.

I'm leaning towards Hastur as the primary faction for my first deck as I have always found the idea of controlling/weakening opponents to be quite fun. I'm still not sure what asylum packs best compliment this or what other faction to use.

EDIT: I'm leaning towards either a Cthulhu/Hastur or Syndicate/Hastur combo.

After looking through the card sets, I have decided to go with The secrets of Arkham, Whispers in the dark and The spoken covenant asylum packs in addition to the core set, although I was a little disappointed that the Ancient Horrors pack wasn't available.
