Red Viper (PoTS)

By Zagor4, in 2. AGoT Rules Discussion

I am quite new to this game and don't really have a concrete understanding of the rules, so this might be a stupid question!

If my opponent has more characters up than me, so the Vipers ability to attack without kneeling is in effect, does this mean:

A) He can participate in all three types of challenge, and then still defend

or

B) He can participate in one challenge as normal, but still defend

Sorry if this has been asked before!

Welcome!

The answer is A.

Thank you.

Well that makes him quite tasty...

A. provided you are first player - things like this can make initiative a lot more significant than it might first seem

I agree that initiative is significant, especially in the last couple of rounds when you are setting up for the final push.

However, the Martell Player will get the benefit of Red Viper's (PotS) character ability regardless of whether s/he is first player or no provided s/he meets the play restriction that s/he controls fewer characters than his/her opponent.

The ability is only not kneeling to attack. Surely this isn't the same as being able to attack if already knelt?

therefore, if the Viper kneels to defend a challenge from the 1st player, he cannot use his ability to perform multiple attacks when it is his player's turn.

It all depends on the board position.
