What's required to become official Witch Hunter ?

By lord nekrah, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

The topic name says the question I have - one of my players plans to become witch hunter after zealot career and I started to ponder what is actually required to join the infamous ranks of witch hunters - money, power or sheer lunacy ? Our group seems to be orienting superbly for zealous chaos hunting if they survive long enough - wood elf (well they hate beastmen), grey wizard (seeking chaos and fallen wizards) and of course the zealot. Was first bit of a problem when I thought ''why the heck these folks just didn't kill each other at first sight ?'' ;D

Well, there are really three types of Witch Hunters: "The Templars Of Sigmar", other dieties similar organizations and the uofficial Witch Hunters.

The Templars Of Sigmar is the actual offical knightly order that is known among the common folk as "Witch Hunters". To become part of this order I'm guessing you'd have to do much the same as getting accepted into any other knightly order.

The other dieties variations of the Templars Of Sigmar might be more or less officially recognized. Some might fall more under the category of "secret organization" and "cult" than "Knightly Order".

To become an unoffical Witch Hunter, all you need is to want to hunt witches/mutants/undead or similar unholy abominations. These are everything from mercenaries taking care of "mutant problems" for cold hard cash to individuals who have a strong drive to defeat the servants of darkness. Referring to yourself as a Witch Hunter might get you hunted down by the Templars Of Sigmar though.

I'm pretty sure the WFRPv2 books Tome Of Corruption, Tome Of Salvation and possibly Heirs Of Sigmar have more information about this subject. Don't have the time to check them right now.
