No Wolf Priests, huh?

By AsaTJ, in Deathwatch

If the book lets Space Wolves be Librarians with only a passing reference to "Rune Priests," and lets them be Techmarines with only a passing reference to "Iron Priests," why is the same hand-wave not made to let them be Apothecaries and just called "Wolf Priests" for roleplay purposes? Is a Wolf Priest that much more different from an Apoc than a Rune Priest is from a Librarian, or a Techmarine from an Iron Priest?

I suspect we'll see advancement schemes for all three of the above SW-specific specializations in a supplement eventually, but for the time being, why not?

While the Wolf Priests do serve the function of apothecary for the Space Wolves their main function is actually as a chaplain for the Space Wolves. You can see in the wargame that their rules are more chaplain based and you can see from the colour scheme of black that chaplain is the focus not apothecary.

As Chaplains have been left out for the rest of the chapters I'm not surprised at all to see no Wolf Priests.

You'll get Wolf Priest as an alternate advancement track when the rules for Chaplains come out, probably in Rites of Battle.

Semi-related... how do you guys know the titles and probable contents of the future supplements? The only one I can find any info on is The Emperor Protects.
