Noob question - Attacking Players

By AliMoto, in Talisman Rules Questions

Hi all,

Our group has only played 3 times so far and are all still learning the ropes.

So my first noob question is :)

When you attack a player and win the battle they loose one life, do you get to take an item of your choice as a reward as well or does that only happen to you have taken there last life and they drop all there items?

Thanks in advance

Ali

You have the choice to take an Object, gold counter or to make them lose a life. If you take their last life then you get to take everything they had as well.

There is no better way to climb to the top than over the corpses of the other players' characters cool.gif .

We're much too nice in our games! We rarely PvP! Although we didn't need to last game. I lost my first character in four turns! New record!!

Heh, we've had games where there has been more PvP (either combat or special ability use) than combat vs adventure cards. If someone's character is down to 1 Life, even if they have no great Objects or Followers, others look to kill him, just 'cos they can demonio.gif .

Exept when they play with a crappy Character, of course. If it's still early in the game I rather see them struggle and suffer than restart with the Prophetess...

Nah, we kill them to put them out of their misery. Then, if they get a better character, kill that one too if given the chance.

Also, the Prophetess is low-midtier for us, not really a winning character (3-14 in 17 appearances). That's only slightly better than people like Priest, Ghoul, Druid, Mistrel.

I suppose it does keep other players weak if they must restart over and over again... But only going after weak players all the time doesn't really make you grow stronger either. Could be dangerous with a lot of players...

Well, on those turns that you don't land on a character, you're going to be drawing cards. And if another player gets a nice Object, attacking them and taking it weakens them while strenghtening you. So win-win.

True, but stealing their objects doesn't kill off their character. Of course taking their objects is aways nice, but if they play with a crappy character it just might not be worth the bother to make them lose all their lives. Allowing them to live when they are weaker than you can provide you with a steady income of nice objects. But then again, if they're down to their last life I would also not hesitate to kill them of and take all of their stuff at once...
