A Few Normandy Questions

By panzerjaeger, in Tide of Iron

Need a little help with the new Normandy expansion:

1. Is it possible to move directly from level 0 to level 2 without the "scaling cliffs" op card?

2. On the second scenario "Hide and Seek" do the deployment instructions allow you to break the normal rule that only 1 squad can occupy a bunker hex? If so, can only one of the squad operate the heavy machine gun? If not, I don't understand how to deploy all the German squads.

3. Are squads in bunkers subject to concussive fire?

4. Are bunkers destructible?

Thanks for the help!!!

No, Page 46 of the ToI rules states: "A hex side in which the terrain moves directly from level 0 to level 2 is called a cliff. Cliff hex sides are impassable."

The v1.3 errata/FAQ adds that you can deploy units "Anywhere on map boards 22B and 25B"

No, they are not. Only buildings and pillboxes are subject to tank's concussive fire.

Destructible buildings are guided by the special rules of the scenario, so it's up to the designer what buildings are destructible. In general though I would say no as bunkers were very heavily reinforced structures. Certainly they were cleared out with flamethrowers and grenades, even direct hits from naval bombardment caused very little damage.
