(Chaos) Space Marine boarding parties?

By Mjoellnir, in Rogue Trader

Hello, I'm wondering if someone thought up rules for Space Marine boarding parties, be it for Deathwatch-crossovers or attacks by chaos raiders who send over a bunch of angry Khorne Berzerkers. There are already rules for Murder Servitors and for Storm Troopers, so how would you handle Space Marines?

Ugh, this stupid interface won't let me cut and paste...

Anyway... when I received the "honor" of a Deathwatch Detachment being assigned to my ship, we used a souped up version of best-quality Storm Troopers for when they are used "off screen":

  • +20 to relevant opposed command tests
  • +1d5 Crew and Morale Damage during boarding actions
  • X2 Hull Damage during hit and run attacks

That might look a little minor for a team of marines, but these are just 5-10 dudes in a battle involving hundreds or thousands of people. They can only do so much, no matter how awesome they are.

Adding to Aureus idea: Depending on what kind of Chaos Marines you specifically want to use (like the Khorne Berzerkers you mentioned) I would modify it further.

For example, Berzerkers should not be able to do any Criticals on the ship, but do much more crew and morale damage (far too busy to SLAUGHTER FOR KHORNE to take care of such trivial things as making fires and planting bombs).

Thanks, I think I'm going to use those. And I don't think that they are minor at all. Don't forget that the crew damage is per cent of a crew of thousands.

Now that you mention it I think Khornies would have massive problems with the "run" part of "hit and run" too.gran_risa.gif

Two words: Oblivion's Edge.

Oh, come on, it's MAIM KILL BURN not just MAIM KILL. Give the khornates some credit! After all, they like the sound of people screaming as they burn just as much as the next psycho.
