I have just lost to Lanni Shadow. I did mulligan because I wanted to put more than 2 cards and then I draw even worse hand. ****, I never had such bad luck with this deck. I got 5 events, 1 character and 1 location. Paul knows my deck and knows that it's very vulnerable against Black Cells and other kneeling/excluding stuff. (I don't tell any secret here, because opponent will know what's goin on in 1st round.) So even without bad luck it would be a very tough game. We played 2 hours and I managed to defend until 10th round. 15-2. Bad luck almost all game, characters lost due intrigue were my key characters, I just couldn't do much. Personally I think Black Cells is too easy trick. Alchemist Hall errata didn't change much. Even Nightmares doesn't help here . 6 kneeling/excluding locations + kneeling events + Castellan. Sigh, it's hard to stand (pun intended).

I had that kind of situation in semifinal of nationals so don't worry, can happen :-) I had stark to. Won 7 games straight on. In semifinal: mulligan then only one char in hand (refugee) and one golden proving location and 5 events. My deck was 60 cards 35 chars and 7 events... since that game I tried to shuffle better my deck after a match :-)

Ps i know that via OCTGN2 this was not the problem :-)

And to think some people thinks greyjoy are underpowered...

I've just lost another game (two games exactly). Jef was much better and I had no chance with his Greyjoys. And people say that Greyjoy are the weakest and need help. Come on people! You have no idea...

Jef was also quicker with this post, but I post it anyway.

I think greyjoy loose against martell 90% of the times and same with targaryen burn. Saying an house is the weakeast doesn't mean that "cannot win". If at Stahleck and Gencon and Ice and Fire Greyjoy were the lesser used house something should mean... saying that, for sure a very good player can win with Greyjoy, no doubt... I won a tourney in july with them without problems... but personally I have trouble... too much trouble with martell (Jef, how you feel playing greyjoy with them??? maybe you can give me some advice) and since martell is the house played the most I stopped using them in tourney.

Lanni hyperkneel is also a huge bane for GJ.

Well, games needs to be played, for sure.

But against Lannister, attacking their resources base is everything, so if you can naval blockade him, play some support of the kingdom, etc, it might be a won game. So were my games against Dondiego, who was lann and pretended to Kneel me . Of course, if he gets to play their game, if he can keep some Golden Toth Mines and Toll Gate, or if he abuses head of a dwarf + lion's gate... we are lost, but greyjoy and any other house falls there, so it's no biggie.

Against Martell it's always a tough match, anyway, so I don't think we are in any way in worst position than, say, Stark. For the record, venenous blade doesn't work against distinguihsed boatswain, nor ancient mariner, nor fishwiskers, nor mercenaries from pike (i'm not using those, but I could). Turbo Viper can be controlled via fishing net, milk of the poppy and pulled under, and they are the house of the nasty events, but Greyjoy is the house of the cancels. On the upper side for us, Martell has the worst location control in the game, so no need to worry about aout efficient killing machine, incarnated by naval support/river blockade.

And against Targ is way easier, no influence no party,

I don't think they are the strongest house, but I sure don't think they are in any way underpowered, and I feel they are a serious contender for the future.

PS: In Stahleck there wasn't Narrow Escape, and river blockade was just released. 2 Nice cards for GJ if you ask me. And, well, in Stahleck there was valid to mix northern agendas, so it was another game.

In my opinion narrow escape is the killer of how I played greyjoy. That means that valar was my biggest weapon with in house saving... now can results a failure. You have named lots of cards that can work against lots of deck... unluckly deck is made by 60 cards. But I will support you and I'm curoius to see your tourney ;-)

I played once again vs Martell Brotherhood and lost this time. At the beginning everything was good (2x Nightmares - Beric dead), but then Viper comes out with Taste and Oasis (Martell are broken ). The game was very close, needed only one M challenge for me and I should win, unfortunately events had the most impact (game of cyvasse) and even 2 x To be a wolf didn't help. Great game though.

against brotherhood and viper I will use in future for sure in the future

And going back to my game with Rogue30, it really was epic (literally) I think we played 11 turns. But it was a very enjoyable and tense game.
