Just the stats M'am

By BanthaFodder, in Talisman

Just a quick and simple one.

What sort of stats do you normally make a bolt for the CoC with?

Of course it will vary depending upon whom else is playing and their scores.

I saw that someone mentioned in their game that a player had a Stength of 17/18. I was wondering how that would happen.

I would make a move with about 11/12 - lower if it was required.

Non-Ice Queen/Eagle King ending, main stat 9 -> Inner Region. If Craft is your main stat, Str 6-7, but that's in battle Str, after all bonus from weapons, etc. That's the basic formula for us.

I should make a move when i reach 12/13 strength/craft, but it happens sometimes that we become so strong in the regions, that we can reach strength 16 or higher. ( good to beat ice queen etc)

You also need it with the Battle royal ending! gui%C3%B1o.gif Who is the strongest..

I won the game recently with just Craft 9 Str 6 - I have luck and I have Gnome and Shovel (or Map, not sure which is for Craft path now).

Avergae stats are in my oppinion around 10

I think I’m the guy that spoke about ending the game at 18/18. Mostly, for us, the gameplay is far more fun than the endgame. If there was a way to extend, say, the Game of Life board game to do 2 passes or whatever without it being weird, we’d do so. Very few games, for us, have a fun end game point. It’s more a “Darn. We have to stop playing now.” end game process in most games.

Or, said another way, we play all games like poker. We very very rarely run out of poker chips &/or money and then HAVE to stop playing. We drink, eat munchies, play, then go “Yup. It’s 11pm. Time to go home.” and cash in our winnings and go home.

Talisman is obviously intended as a race, but, since there’s no “you HAVE to move forward to the end” as per the Game of Life, or whatever, we picked 18/18 as the time we go to the end. 18 was almost out of the hat. It turns out its just long enough before we start to get bored of that game. But it’s also the point at which you can’t fail rolls on the Mines/Crypt on the Inner Region.

We find most other board games to be too short, and, finances being what they are, having restarted Talisman and its expansions, we don’t have the money to start up a “conventionally” long board game, like, from what I hear, Arkham Asylum. But I do admit our group is far from normal, end game wise.
