A while back, months at least, someone posted a series of theme games using AH:
7 games, one with just the base game, and one each for each expansion (at that time). Each had a specific GOO, chosen in conjunction with each expansion - Hastur for King in Yellow, Cthulhu for Innsmouth, Nyarly for Dark Pharoah, etc.
Does anyone remember this thread? Anyone remember the name of the thread?
Do you mean these? A lot of activity on the boards lately buried them pretty far down the line.
Hmm, no, that's not the thread I was talking about but it's better. The one I saw was pretty bare bones, just listing an expansion and GOO. This thread may have come from the earlier one, however, and may even be by the same poster, so thanks.
One difference is that I think the original list had Azathoth first with just the core game to emphasize investigation and gate sealing over final combat.

Uhhh, was it that short list I put together to fix the base game for players who wanted a challenge with it but without other components? It's somewhere in my files... I'm not at home right now. You could dig through my archive of past messages to try and find it.

Nope, had nothing to do with increasing difficulty. It was more to add expansions one at a time while using a specific GOO to emphasize the theme of that expansion. I don't remember who wrote the list though.

It seems like something that could have been created by Tibs. Once he was used to write down a sort of "GOO sequence with expansions" to introduce new players to the game. This sequence was improved a lot through the league he is running
Yeah, it sounds like Tibs to me too. If it's not, I have no idea what I'm talking about (quite likely).
