Ki Technique advancement

By Natso, in Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG

Alright, after much reading and studying on this board, me (DM) and one of my players have decyphered most everything about how the Ki Dominion system works. There's one thing in particular that I sort of expect... should exist, but I haven't read anything about it yet.

A technique he came up with. I assume his math is sound, that isn't the issue.

Name: Not Excidium (MK 45)

+100 Damage, MK30
State, Unconscious (80 PhR), MK10
+25 Initiative, MK5
Lv1
STR 4
AGI 2
DEX 2
CON 4
POW 4
WP 4

Say later he wanted to make a new version of the technique, with...

+100 Initiative, MK 20

Could he modify the existing one and pay the difference or what? (realizing, yes, that it will be a level 2 technique, so he'll need 2 level 1 techniques)

Basically, can you improve existing techniques, or do you have to create entirely new techniques? I read that it takes 2 level 1's before you can make a level 2 technique. Am I missing anything? Or are techniques really just independent of each other, requiring the creation of a new technique.

Cheers

The rules say no, a technique being understood as a mix of effects that becomes a whole. There's an advantage in Dominus Exxet allowing two techniques to be combined, thus used and started at the same time, so you could add a +75 effect as another technique and add it to the existing technique. You'll have to add the "cumulative" (not sure about the English name, I have the French book) to the existing attack (usually the rules doesn't allow it, it should be created as cumulative) and buy the advantage for the new one.

Of course depending on the GM he should be the one deciding how to handle that : either follow the rules 100% or bend it a little, either simply allow to spend the points and go to +100 initiative, or as I do as a GM, "forget" the old technique and replace with the new one and just pay the difference.
