Dragonstone Port "Loophole"

By ktom, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

Dragonstone Port:

"Players may take actions after plot cards are chosen as part of the plot phase, but before they are revealed.

Plot: After plot cards are chosen but before they are revealed, name a plot card. For each opponent that reveals the named plot card this phase, claim 1 power for your House."

I was looking at this card recently and realized there is a loophole and/or oversight that will allow you to claim as many power as you have opponents, every round. To my knowledge, no one has commented on it before. Anyone else see it?

(I'm transplanting this "challenge" from the rules board because I thought it could lead to some interesting discussion.)

The action is not limited. So you can "simply" repeat the action for every single Plot card that currently exists in the environment.

Even worse: what prevents you to name each plot card 15 times and immediately claim 15 power?

Finaly Baratheon has a chance to win tournaments... gran_risa.gif

EDIT: **** it, the card isn't House Baratheon only...

Dang! Why didn't I see that before Stahleck! That's... awesome. And makes winning on 1st turn really a possibility ;)

I don't see the problem, you should just name one plot card and hope your opponents reveal it. It may not be worded that way but if anyone tried to do it the other way to abuse it, I would just punch them in the face. Problem solved. demonio.gif

There are 80-odd plots in the game. There is nothing stopping me from triggering this 80-odd times, naming every plot, and collecting the power. Of course, I, personally, am a bastard and would make an opponent who tried to do this to me actually name all 80 plots....

Now that it has been seen, I'm sure we can expect a limit on it in the next FAQ, but man, what an oversight!

Ktom, when I said "....And I'm certain I just found the "loop hole" you are referring to gran_risa.gif " in the Rules section of the forums, this is exactly what I meant. I didn't want to post the details though because: 1) I wanted others to have a chance of figuring it out 2) My friend and I were having waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much fun laughing over the prospect of being the biggest d-bag ever and using it at a tournament partido_risa.gif

Also, after much discussion we concluded that you could indeed name the same plot 15x to get 15 power. The card creates a distinct effect each time it is triggered. The fact that all these triggered effects come from one "source" or card does not matter. Imagine if LIV didn't have to be knelt to give a character +2 STR. Putting aside you could theoretically add infinite STR to any and all participating characters, you would draw infinite cards (up to your draw cap of course) at the end of the challenge if you won the challenge. Choosing the same character over and over again X times with (my fake) LIV (or real if you had a way of standing it mid-challenge) and drawing X cards at the end of the challenge (assuming you won), is equivalent to naming the same plot over and over again X times with Dragonstone Port and claiming X power if it revealed during that Plot Phase.
