i am a new player who just played a couple of games from the Core Set.

My question/confusion is about Bran Stark card. What is the use of his ability?

a) Its player and reveal a new plot card? or b) just you reveal a new plot card?

If it is b) then what is its usefulness!

His ability only affects you: "Kneel Bran Stark to choose and reveal a new plot card". note that it doesn't say "choose a player. Then, that player must reveal a new plot card"

It can be useful in certain situations. After the 'when revealed' effects of all players plots have taken effect, each player is given the chance to take player actions. If you think the plot you have chosen is not going to be helpful this round in light of seeing what your opponent has revealed, using Bran's ability might be useful.

Say you have a lot of Noble crest characters on the table, If your opponent has just boosted a lot of his Army crest characters through Power of Arms, and you revealed Good for the Gander (which would be useless since there is no "when revealed" effect to copy), now might be a good time to use Bran and reveal The Power of Blood instead so that your Nobles can't be killed that round.
