Question about a Mythos card from KiY expansion.

By Dragon-D1, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

There is a Mythos card from the King in Yellow expansion that is called Bizarre Couriers, the second paragraph says "However, each investigator involved in the transaction loses 1 Sanity per item given or received". Does this mean 1 Sanity per transaction or 2 Sanity per transaction since you usually give an item and get an item in the same transaction (since it is a trade)?

Thanks for any help

Trading doesn't have to involve both investigators getting something. One can give another 5 items and get 0 in return. Of course, Sanity loss would be 5 for both in that case.

I guess that's true, but it still doesn't really answer my question. What happens in the case of a "standard" trade?

If I understand it correctly, both the receiver and the giver suffer sanity damage that is equal to the number of items transferred. So, if one investigator gave another player two items and received one item from a third investigator. then the damage will be as follows:

First investigator- loses 3 sanity(gave two, received one)
Second investigator- loses 2 sanity(received two items)

Third investigator loses 1 sanity(gave one item)

One sanity loss per item given, one sanity loss per item received. This would affect each investigator. So if you gave one and got one, you'd lose two sanity.

The point here is that the couriers are strange. The mail delivery system has been hijacked by the powers oft the Mythos- no one is safe.

Ok, I kind of thought that for a "standard" trade it would cost 2 Sanity but I wanted to be sure.

Thanks all!
