I tried to download your file again, with success! Thank you very much. I will see how it works out and let you know.

Vielen Dank, (it has been years)

Be my guest. :-) Just remember that the whole Spartan Warrior&Famed Exterminators thing is optional. If you don't like it, just leave out both talents - they are intended to out-balance each other to some degree.

The dl limit of 10 downloads was exceeded. I have uploaded the file again here:

www.filesonic.com/file/31020827/CrimsonFistsForDW_v1beta.pdf

People may feel free to host the file wherever they want to and post the link here, the above link will expire after 30 days without download.

Alex

cool. got it, nicely done too

Feedback is welcome as I haven't been able to playtest any of these rules.

A minor editing note, on the Solo Mode ability, I would add the phrase, "the Legendary" after as and before Captain Cortez, to help readers who may perhaps be unfamiliar with him that he is a legendary figure in the history of the CF's.

Lol, I might as well add the "the Discontinued". Anyway, I don't think I'll make any changes until I see what Rites of Battle has to offer. Perhaps Xeno Sweep should give a one time damage bonus per attack and not per hit though. That avoids improving the Heavy Bolter even further.

Thanks for the thought.

Alex

Also - I'd be interested to hear about you about these two texts I have picked up on the internet:

"It is also notable that the CRIMSON FISTS may suffer from some sort of mutation that causes pain to be routed incorrectly into their brain, often into their pleasure centers. Whatever the reason, CRIMSON FISTS are also known for being masocistic. That vice is just as easily turned virtue in battle, such as proved Captain Cantor's amazing stories. Whatever the case, FISTS are known to fight on even after the battle is most certainly lost, usually taking the day in the name of the EMPEROR and DORN.

As for organization, they are closer to that of the CODEX ASTARTES of the ULTRAMARINES; however, they have been noted as being far more heavily oriented. They most certainly have Devistator squads and rely upon them more heavily that most chapters. This is quite unlike their BLACK TEMPLAR counterparts."

and

"Because of their effectiveness against Orks and other greenskins, it is common for the Master of Weapons to distribute Hellfire rounds to every marine taking part in an engagement. Also, the Fists use a chemical they call 'Hellfire' promethium to increase the heat output of their flamer weaponry. This dangerously sensitive explosive is used whenever it can be obtained to fuel their flamers and heavy flamers."

Is there any truth to this or is this fan fiction?
- masochistic
- Devastator squads
- Hellfire rounds/promethium

Any cited sources? In not, then I'd say 'no'. It's all news to me, anyway.

The dev/flamer bias may just be someone's reasoning for the way you could equip 40% of your platic marines from the original boxed set with flamers and missile launchers...

No, no cited sources or else I wouldn't have to ask. In fact I did ask because I wanted to know if that rings any bells to anyone here, something they know and I might have missed. Anyway here's the pages I got it from:

Sounds a bit fanboi to me! Certainly no reference to any of the 'facts' in any fiction I've read.

So we have official rules now, eh? What's my opinion of them? Simple:

aplauso.gif

Fantastic in many ways. Dare I be so immodest and call them my CF rules 2.0? gran_risa.gif Seriously… they're different of course and I would even go so far to call the official rules an improvement but… the basics were all there already: the pride, the honour, the special standing in the Deathwatch, the Last Stand (oh yeah, back when DW was released my initial reaction forum on the forum was 'Why not Last Stand?' Some posters here didn't get what I was referring to. Tsk. gui%C3%B1o.gif ). Dedicated Kill-Team is an improved version of my 'Xeno Sweep', etc.

Whoever wrote that section, I'd like to shake their hands. Anyway, there is some minor gripes, I don't want to bother you guys with that because I think a lot has the right vibe for the Crimson Fists. But two points I do have to raise:

1) First and foremostly, the Last Stand needs a rules clarification/change. Fists need to be able to activate this ability whenever a brother in support range falls. Why? Because otherwise this squad mode ability will not see any use. What would you rather do? Join an Ultramarine ability and get a **** re-roll every turn or preventively trigger Last Stand in order to get 3 Fate Points? Nobody will use an ability that only has a beneficial effect if a battle-brother dies/falls. It just doesn't work.

2) CF Past Voltigern Veteran. That's a blunder. Voltigern ended in 745.M40. M40. Not M41. I would have used such an entry for CF Pasts myself if it was in M41. Maybe revise the entry in the next errata update?

Plus a minor disappointment was that the Psy Power from the Crimson Tears wasn't modelled. I called it Tendrils Of The Warp in my rules.

Other than that - quite satisfied with what has been delivered. Getting Fate when a Brother falls is great, I like that you guys stress fighting Orks as specialization more than I originally did, Rynn World Native is an important past that had eluded me, duh.

Good job.

Alex

The Crimson Fists have two rules sets officially. One in Honour the Chapter and another in Rites of Battle.

And you think I am not aware of either? ;)

Alex

Nice rules and stuff.

Only thing tingling my hindbrain is in "CF Chapter Advances" and specificly "Deathwatch Training"

Shouldn't every DW marine start with it, like it is mentioned in p. 36 in DW CRB

So why should CF pay for it when everyone else gets it for free

Sorry if this was already asked and answered

It's an old thread so if my memory serves me well, this was just left in for running Non-DW campaigns but a dedicated Crimson Fist campaign. Since the CF are generally expert Xeno fighters and/or many have served in the DW. For Deathwatch Marines, this is redundant.
