Why is the color purple called blue in Runebound? Was there a misprint and they decided to run with it? Is a higher up at FFG color blind and no one has the nerve to tell them they got the colors wrong?

You're not the first person to think blue things look purple, RB isn't even the first game to face this issue. You may be right about the colour-blind thing, but I doubt it was misprint since it hasn't been corrected in reprintings.
Personally I don't spend too much time worrying about it. I know what game bits they mean, that's all I need.

Agreed!
Just had to get that out.
LOL! I hear ya Tony, it's not that it is a big deal but it makes you stop and think for a half-a-second when reading the rules for the first time.
It's funny because the first time playing with my friends (me and 3 others), as they sat there listening to me read the rules and it came to something about the "blue" challenges being read I could see all of them looking around the board puzzled and all three of them looked up at me and said "ummm do you mean purple??". It was slightly funny at the time but now that you bring it up and I'm looking back it kind of makes me laugh again.
Depending on where your components were in the Chinese print run that produced your game, a bit too much red ink, or not enough blue, may have been present. Too much red at the time of printing would produce the purple look. Or, the color separations may have been a bit off, giving a purplish border to the otherwise blue bits.
ya i can see that variations of print runs could have some more red than others.
the backs of my blue adventure cards actually look Indigo to me, so technically neither blue nor purple but in between of course
So as a bonus you can use runebound to teach your children ROYGBIV. "who wants to face a violet challenge kids?"
you do know color blind people can see all colors except red and green which looks gray to them

That depends on what kind of colourblindness a person has, of course. Being red-green colourblind is (I think) the most common, but it's not the only way a person can be colourblind.
