Some questions!

Hello to everyone, I just discovered ToI some days ago and I've been suddenly fascinated by it. At the moment I do not possess the starter box but I want to buy it as soon as possible. I just wanted to know about the multiplayer mechanics and if the game really works good if there are 3 or 4 players involved; some friends of mine took a look at ToI and want to try it so I wanted to know if the game fits for a "group" mechanic or not. Does ToI become complicated or not doing so? And what about excitement? Does it become boring and slower? Thanks for patience and attention, bye!

In a four player game, two players are cooperating versus the other team, and in my opinion the game is better for three or four players. Its more social and more fun. Many people on this forum would probably disagree and say that it is first and for most a two player game, but I disagree. I find it more fun to be able to talk tactics etc. with my buddy while playing instead of taking all the decisions myself.

But I geuss it depends on your stile of play. However the game will take slightly longer with three or four people (due to talking tactics with your friend takes some time).

Like most war games that involve more than 2 players alot depends on the players. If you have 2 people that can't decide what they want to do and spend all day arguing in a secret confrence in another room then yep it's going to get boring. If on the other hand you have some savy players that can work as teams then it will likely go faster since the work is split up between more hands and minds.

One thing i think is really neat about the multiplayer is that each side is divided into two divisions. Obviously in a single player game you take both of them, but in multiplayer you each take one. The divisions are pretty balanced so each player gets about the same number of units or at least about the same strength. A lot of the time one division will be mostly armor and vehicles and the other will be the infantry; which will call for some cooperation and coordination between the players (also makes sense from a real life standpoint). So this will work well if one player prefers to play with infantry and the other with vehicles.

One more thing. Each round plays by actions per turn. An action being a single unit activated (with a few exceptions). The teams take turns activating all their units until all of them have done something (the round is over when all units have been activated). Each player will take 2 actions and then pass it to the other team before the second player of the first team goes. So it will look like this. Team1Player1(2 actions) - Team2Player1(2 actions) - Team1Player2(2 actions) - Team2Player2(2actions) until all units have moved. This way each player is interrupted by the enemy before his team mate can react, so you have to try to work around that issue.
