Skill checks bonus includes attacks?

By Lother_Storm, in WFRP Rules Questions

Hello,

I found abilities (talents, spells, …) which have positive or negative effects on skill checks e.g. inspire.

Does this include attacks because this is also a skill check on weapon skill?
And does a physical skill check include also attacks and initiative?

Abilities (including attacks) use skill checks. If say 'Inspiring Words' grants the 'Inspired' condition to players and ALL skill checks gain a fortune die, then yes, the white die is included in attack as they use weapons skill. Makes those social-talky-people kind of cool for party buffs eh? ^_^

Initiative is not a skill check (as far as I'm aware), otherwise Shinma is correct.

I wrote abilities when what I meant to stress was Actions and specifically Action Cards. Hope that helps!

if initiative is not a skill check, does that mean I do not get the fotune die I trained in agility when rolling initiative?

Any skill check is really a Characteristic check with extra dice if trained and/or spec'ed (like on the character sheet : Athletics (Str), Resilience (Tou), etc.)

Physical skill check is just a one of the 3 physical attribute check (Weapon Skill is a physical skill check using Strength)

Initiative is a Physical check if it's combat oriented (Agility) and yes, you use the Fortune dice linked to your Agility, since it is an Agility attribute test

Just to clarify a fortune die is a white die. Fortune die for your stat DOES apply to both Agility (stat) and thus initiative and an Agility related skill (like a Skullduggery or Stealth check).

The Inspired status asked about in the example of the original post grants 1 white fortune die to all rolls with skills.

If you were to be Inspired and roll initiative you WOULD get the white fortune die from your Agility fortune training, but not from the Inspired status.

On the other hand you would gain BOTH to your Skullduggery check netting 2 white fortune dice on that roll.
