Starter Deathwatch Quick Reference Cards

By dbgoldberg323, in Deathwatch

Using a nice card making program (Magic Set Editor), I put together a couple of quick reference cards for Deathwatch. I only made cards for beginning characters but other cards may be in the works.

Here's a link to the basic items granted to beginning characters:

Here's a link to the Chapter Solo Mode abilities for the six presented Chapters:

Note: I did NOT include Power Armor because its abilities are already on the Character Sheet and wouldn't fit on a single card anyways.

Feedback is welcome, and I hope you all like them!

IT's the same link to Solo abilities both times happy.gif

Love those cards. What a great idea!

Edited.

Enjoy!

Good stuff, thanks!

Pretty awesome, mate. Looking forward to more!

I can't wait for more!

On a side note, the number in the top-left hand corner of the cards is the Requisition required to obtain said item if it isn't given to your class. This will continue for other item/ability cards. Just thought I'd clear that up since I didn't mention it anywhere. happy.gif

Great Job!!!

Downloaded them and I am looking forward to more of your work.

Wow having a card for each monster in the universe would rock!

I'm working my way through the material... I'm working on Oblivion's Edge right now, but will be moving on to the core rule book soon. The hard part is finding appropriate art... I have been using the art I can find from other FFG products when I can. Hopefully that isn't stepping on any toes, being a fan-made-supplement?

Fantastic cards, they made our first Deathwatch session last night a little easier.

Has anyone got a similar set of cards for the full set of squad and solo modes as it would save alot of repetative page flicking.

Surak

All I did was download some silly program that faked a "PDF Printer" so when I'm selecting which printer I want to use, I click the "PDF" one. Bam, problem solved.

I will be putting more cards up over the next week, and I'm loving the Creature cards (thought I wish the pictures were more representative of the units).

Yeah, so do I. Finding the correct artwork is the hardest part!

A PDF printer makes sense. I'll try that next.

Another idea to put into cards are the psychic powers... Maybe talents and things that are not possessed by all Astartes (such as an Assault Marines' Descent of Angels). I plan on including a card-protector sheet with my character sheet that has all the pertinent reference cards inserted... should make bookkeeping loads easier. +1 kudos for the idea, mate!

These are awesome. Thanks for posting.

I'll have to mock up some when I get home later.

Doing the Psychic Powers is also a great idea, especially considering the Librarian gets to start with some (which is the whole reason I started doing the cards, to have the "starter" equipment as quick reference). And putting them in the card-protector sheet is a brilliant idea as well! I like it!

WOW! Many thanks dbgoldberg323! I have a hard time with all these cards in RPG's, but your designs and efforts have convinced me otherwise. More, please!

I spent all morning making up some psychic power reference cards. I hope the artwork is satisfactory, I spent the majority of the time on Google Images trying to find them all! If you find any errors, let me know.

So far, I only have the basic disciplines of Telepathy, Divination, and Codex Powers. I will be working on chapter-specific powers next.

just want to echo what the other posters have said and say that both dbgoldberg and foxphoenix are creating some very cool fan supplements. they are aesthetically pleasing, deeply functional and help speed up play - i'm convinced. I'm not a huge fan of "everything on a card".... but these remind me of magic the gathering card design and that has to be a good thing.

i'm think of making cards to help with situational combat modifiers to prevent players having to go through the -10-10+10+20+WS math hurdle each round when their turn comes out. So have global modifiers near the GM screen for lighting conditions or visibility (for example) and give cards to players that are relevant to them (aiming, range, fire type [single, semi or full] etc). then if anything changes the card(s) can be changed out. if not it should be easier to ascertain the combined positive/negative. its only because i have players who aren't lightning calculators and struggle visualising the answer.

so again... lovely work guys. keep it up. :)

Well they should, because the program is called "Magic Set Editor" and the cards I've used are from the new Futureshift set from Magic the Gathering.

On a side note, I will be making my own version of cards that others have already made, because I am kind of a stickler for consistency in formatting and imagery from card to card, and set to set (and I've used the program quite a bit so I know my way around it). I will continue making (and re-making) cards, and when I'm done I'll post a link to all of mine to give you guys more choices.

Thanks for the positive feedback and I promise that I'll keep working on them!

While the cards are quite beautiful, some of them (nearly all solo abilities) contain a little too much text. I haven't printed them, but on the screen they're rather hard to read at 100% zoom. Have you considered using multiple cards for one item/ability? You could still put them into a protector sheet next to each other.

If you want the actual set files for the editor, let me know and I'll get them to you... it might save you some time doing some of the text.

Haha, no worries, I already had them 3/4 typed up when you posted yours. :P

Still working on mine, and to Cifer, we did paraphrase quite a bit to keep the character-count low, but unfortunately the Solo Mode abilities do a LOT. Good idea on making multiple cards for them, and I'll have to fool around with them some more because it's true, not everyone has 20/15 vision like myself... :P
