Seeking New Slaves

By Clamatius, in Warhammer Invasion Rules Questions

When putting one of your opponent's units into play with Seeking New Slaves, do you have to obey zone restrictions? For example, I SNS my opponent's recently deceased Longbeards. They are Battlefield only. Do they therefore have to go to my Battlefield?

IIRC that's the way that Stand Your Ground works, so I would assume that is how this works too but I figured I'd sanity check.

Did you accidentally delete your FAQ gran_risa.gif ?

Under "Put Into Play":

"An important distinction is
that put into play does not bypass the
unique restriction or any restrictions in
the text box of the card." (p. 8)

But card text can override the rules... It explicitly says you can put it into play "in any of your zones". The wording on Stand Your Ground is slightly different "(You choose the zone in which the unit enters play.)" I'm not sure if this is a relevant difference or just another example of poor templating. In both cases I'd be inclined to agree that you still have to follow zone restrictions on the card, just playing a little devil's advocate.

Right, exactly. I'm going to assume that you have to put them into the restricted zone due to the usual "negatives win" way the rules seem to work, even though this isn't strictly a "cannot".

Has this any similarity to gaining control of units of Order by Destruction decks? That would be very restrictive. The rules just seem to say they can't be in the same deck when built. Cheers!

Yeah, thats been discussed here before at some point. The consensus was that the "Destruction Only" keyword is just a deck building restriction, not a control restriction. The rules say: "Some neutral cards have the keyword Order Only. These cards cannot be used in a Destruction (Chaos, Orc, or Dark Elf) deck. Some neutral cards have the keyword Destruction Only. These cards cannot be used in an Order (Empire, Dwarf, or High Elf) deck."

From Lukas at FFG:

Q. Is Destruction/Order Only just a deck building restriction, not a control restriction? i.e. you can take them with Seeking New Slaves, etc.

A. Deckbuilding restriction only.
