New Call of Cthulhu LCG card database/images/deckbuilder at cardgamedb.com

By Darksbane, in CoC General Discussion

Those of you who play Game of Thrones might have already seen my site and I'm pleased to say I've got the Call of Cthulhu section up and running

To check it out go to www.cardgamedb.com .

So what does it have?

Currently I'm focusing on Game of Thrones and Call of Cthulhu but plan to branch out into other games.

A Deckbuilder : It allows you to filter for cards, view them with a single click and add them to your deck with a double click, you can add or remove them while in your deck with + and - buttons. You can save your deck on cardgamedb.com and come back and edit it later, you can save it to your hard drive as a .txt, Lackey, or OCTGN file, or generate BBCode to easily post it just about anywhere. Decks saved on the site can then be submitted to the site and once approved it will be posted in the deck section with a copy being posted in the forums. The Deckbuilder also has realtime graphing to easily track your characters strength, your cards cost, the number of each card type, and the number of each faction. Flash 10 is required for this, some people might experience a slowdown with real time graphing. I would suggest to conserve resources to only click on the graphs tab when you need the information, when that tab is not being shown it doesn't recalculate constantly.

A Submitted Decks Section : If you choose to submit your deck to the site it will show up in the submitted decks section and in the forums. The forums provides an easy way to discuss all the new decks and the decks section will show the more detailed information like deck graphs and sample hand. I recreated Tom Capor's 2010 World Champ Agency/Hastur Deck from the decklist here on ffg's site to use as an example.

A Card Search : Since the deck builder isn't very friendly to mobile devices I made a page specifically for searching for cards and made sure it was formatted nicely to access with your mobile phone. The non mobile version shows a list of all the cards with links you can hover over for a popup of the card image. The mobile version shows all the cards with the text hidden and a button to show a cards text and a link to the card image.

A Card Gallery : Since the deckbuilder shows images of the cards I needed some nice quality images to display so I scanned in all the cards at a nice resolution and took them for a trip through photoshop to make sure they were all lined up correctly and color corrected. All images are current through the most recent set.

A Card Spoiler : A more typical card spoiler organized by sets. You can rate individual cards and comment on them.

Other non-Call of Cthulhu specific features include:

A Member Map : It is a google maps powered app which lets you set your location. If anyone decides to use it I'd put the pin on your city not house.

A Small Chat Room : Something the forums came with. 5 user limit but can be expanded if people use it.

Last but not least Forums : All this is integrated with Invision Power Board. A fairly advanced forum with all the bells and whistles. It has facebook and twitter integration, multiple ways to brodcast your posts/decks (Twitter, FB, Digg, Buzz, Reddit, etc) to the world. It also has Facebook 'Like' options, user ratings, topic ratings, RSS feeds, PM system, and extensive user profiles.

Looking forward to seeing people on the site and if anyone has any suggestions or sees any errors on the site feel free to drop me a line. I've tested the site in FF 3.5+, IE8.0, Chrome and mobile Safari and all seem to be working well.

Great work, this is an excellent resource for the LCG community here at FFG. I just finished and procesed my first deck. It is something straight forward and brutal. I am still unclear about a couple of things:

How exactly do I submit a completed deck to the site. Please be a specific as possible.

Is it possible to change the card order once you add cards to a deck? This is my OCD question... If I start entering cards then realize I forgot Silver Twilight Temptress after I input several Characters is it possible to move her on the list so she is in line with same costed Characters?

Thanks for the heads up. Signed up and made a deck. I love the graph feature the most and used a similar thing on another site during my M:tG days so this is most welcome.

One point of critique. When searching for cards it would be nice to press enter to start the search instead of mouse clicking. Minor but somewhat annoying. Another one is the sample hand displays 7 cards, not 8 which is the starting draw for CoC.

@Tokhuah: If you are logged in you should see a list of your saved decks in the bottom right hand box on the utilities tab which looks like

Saved_Decks_IMG.jpg

Clicking on the name such as '2010 World Champ Deck' will load the saved version of the deck back into the deckbuilder (this will overwrite anything currently in there).

Clicking on the first icon on the right (pencil in txt bubble) will overwrite a saved deck with the deck currently loaded in the deck builder. This allows you to load a deck, make some changes, then save it back without having to save it as a whole new deck.

The second icon on the right (red with -) will your deck.

The last icon on the right (broadcast tower) will submit the deck to my site. It then goes into an approval process so I can make sure it is a complete deck and once approved it will be available to view by everyone.

I thought these icons had hover text explaining their usage but looks like that isn't working, I'll throw something in there so it won't be so confusing.

As far as reordering the cards go, no there is no current way to do that. I'll look into it though and see if there is an easy way to do that, I doubt there will be but I'll at least check it out.

@Hellfury: When the filter tab is shown hit Shift+Enter and that will trigger the search to go off. Thanks for the heads up on starting hand, I knew something looked off there, should be fixed with a page refresh.

Huge fan of this for AGOT and so incredibly glad that it's transfered to CoC as well. Add in WI for the trifecta and I'll be in heaven.

I've added in the ability to sort cards in your deck. Once the cards are in your deck click the 'Sort Cards' Button, you will then be able to drag and any card to any other position in it's appropriate section. The only catch is that if you then add more cards to your deck in order for the new cards to be sortable you need to click the 'Sort Cards' Button again.

Awesome feature for us OCD folks! Once I get the new set (Screams) into my hands I will post up something new to test it out!

This is going to be helpful in so many ways, but mainly to help me keep my sanity while I wait for Santa to deliver my cards.
