Story Deck

By White Phoenix, in CoC General Discussion

I apologize if this has been delt with before, or if I am simply misreading the rule book.

I have a question about the story deck. The core set comes with ten stories and the rule book says that the story deck must contain these stories. Dose that mean as I find new stories in the monthly packs I just add them to the deck, or can I switch out to talior the deck to my needs? And for that matter at tourneys which player provides the story deck?

As I said I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but I searched through the forum and couldn't find the answer. Plus I'm new to CoC, a long time aGoT player so I'm used to a plot deck for each player. I appricate any input.

Thanks

The core game comes with 10 and secrets of arkham come with 10 as well. So far, there haven't been any story cards included in any asylum packs. Just the deluxe expansion secrets of arkham. Not sure whether or not Silver Twilight will have a story deck or not. Likely not since it wasnt mentioned.

Apparently, the secrets of arkham story cards are supposed to replace the core game story cards for sanctioned events. I am not sure who is supposed to provide it for an event so I assume you just bring your own and use either players deck.

I posit that it matters little if at all what story cards you use in casual play, so pick which ever set you like and run with that.

I bet he has been thinking the Conspiracy Cards- a lot of which are being released in Yuggoth Contract - are meant to be "additional story cards" - so he has been putting them into the main story card pile and playing them when they are drawn out....which, admittedly is not impossible in the least and COULD be done - since they do function "Like stories" - but they are meant to be put into one player or another's actual "Deck" for the game - and used that way - in ADDITION to the normal stories which are flipped over from the 10-card supply.
