Tourney of Stahleck 2010 - March of the Damned tourney legal?

By thorondor, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

there are some that would like to see March of the Damned part of the Cardpool for the Tourney of Stahleck.

the expansion will be released tomorrow, 29th sep. following FFG policy new cards have to be available for at least one week in order to be tourney legal.

still, this new expansion brings many new cards and will change the game a lot. its not just anohter new BP.

and we know from past releases that official release dates are no guarantee to be able to purchase the product that day in all countries.

if still needed it will be possible to purchase March-boxes on site at castle stahleck.

based on these arguments i decided not to make it tourney legal for Stahleck.

however, if the big majority thinks it would be better to add march to the cardpool, i wont deny it.

so bring forth your arguments, and do so quickly, cause a final final decision will be made on friday!!

Hey,

Before the FAQ, I would be all for making March legal, because it would shake the stale meta.

With the RBT decks gone i am not so sure.

Reasons for not making it legal:

- I am sure many people (including me) spent a lot of time preparing for the tournament without March, this would make that time go to waste
- Little to no time left for tuning out the decks playtesting

Reasons for making it legal:

- A big shake will mean a lot of interesting decks will emerge in a living meta with no truly dominant decks yet set
- It is a challenge.

I probably would in the end be in favor of making it legal. Slightly.

No March of the Damned!!! It's too late for any serious playtesting. Moreover I'm sure there are many other players that are wondering (like me and my friend) when they will receive this exp. set! I think it would be a compleate disaster for players, organisation and for the fun...

Hi,

my short opinion: No :-)

my long opinion : it is too much lastminute changes, and it is not good. Also i want to enjoy last time pre-march meta. With nerfed RBT it will be again fun to play main event and in other tournaments (highlander, nationals) there is also no need for tons of new cards.

in my opinion legal for sure, it was announced that all cards till end of september will be legal and "march" was the september expansion, so it was sure it would be in the legal cycle. The card list was posted in this forum a few weeks ago and open for everyone.

I think we all dont want to play every game against the standart dwarf, ork and empire decks and we have 2 weeks to make something cool happen.

Well, it may be officially "in stores" this week, but my store for instance gets everything with a slight delay. So I would probably get it two days before Stahleck at best, so that's one evening of deckbuilding and no testing.

And I guess there's a lot of other players that can't get hands on this on the official day of release.

Reminds me a little bit of last year's AGOT, where all the Spanish guys had the last two packs, when these weren't even available in Germany.

So my vote is no March of the Damned, as this also was stated in your last mail.

In my opinion the release of MotD won't be such a meta earthshake as the errata of RBT, which didn't destroy just RBT decks, but most of the decks attempting to beat Thrower. Also, dwarfs seem to be too strong now and MotD might change it. I think it would be much fun playing with the new cards and my vote is definitely for allowing it.

Legal.

You haven“t to put them in a deck that works, but you can.

Are we players or girlies? gui%C3%B1o.gif

For fairness: Not legal.

It would be interesting and fun to make it legal, but if there are players who can lay hands on the expansion only a few days before the tournament it's not about playing skills but more about luck of getting the expansion fast or not.

For balancing: legal.
It will break dwarfs a bit and that is good.
It will add new decks.
It brings fun.
It brings surprise.
You show how good your deckbuilding skills are, if you can build a good deck in 1 week.
And otherwise I dont know what one should have playtested the last months so much.

A compromise could be that it is allowed in Highlander (more cards->good).

LEGAL.

Why? Well, it was stated that everything released until 1-October would be legal, so this is a clear example of abiding by the rules.

March of the Damned was released in the UK weeks ago, and anyway, for those complaining about not being able to create decks, I'm sorry, but the regulation above explicitly stated so.

Unfortunate or not, the rules are the rules, IMO.

I will participate only in the Nations cup, so my opinion counts just for that specific tournament ;)

Legal if everyone has a chance to buy it (Local store or at the tournament itself). As every card is known, everyone can build already a deck and test it. Testing can be done with proxies.

Legalize it!

Everyone knew that it was announced for Septembre and now it is here.

Everyone could see the spoilers since they were spreading on the net like wildfire (I think I know the cards for over a month or so now), so why didn't the players take the cards into account when playtesting?

I also only received my March of the Damned set now but am willing to have it legalized at the tournament. So I am in the same boat as most of the "no"-sayers.

The new set looks highly interesting and will create a lot of new decks. The more variety the more fun. Nobody wants to have the same top 8 as there were at the Worlds this year (how boring was that outcome?).

hi,

i am quite suprised that many people are willing to make it legal.

So after reading your posts, my crazy part of me says : Do whatever you want, i will adapt. And my wise part of me adds: in case of March legality, please quarantee, that we can buy it on friday before highlander starts. (i am not sure that March will be in time in Czech Republic)

hi,

IMO I think that MoD should be legalize but under the condition that everyone, who doesn't have it yet, is able to get a copy at Stahleck.

I feel similar like liborhood. My intuition and curiosity tell me that it will be legal and fun. Legalizing it would shake the meta. It would be hard to say which decks will be the best ones. That's risky... and adventureous.

that would be no problem. however pre-ordering is important, so that i will have enough available at the castle.

So there shouldn't be a problem anymore. Anyone who doesn't have the cards yet, can use proxies to playtest. We still have 8 complete days until the people have to travel to Stahleck, in case they want to arrive on Friday. This way everyone has the same chance at the tournaments.

Yeah, I remember this too stated somewhere on the homepage.

you are right, i mentioned on the stahleck homepage that all september releases will be tourney legal for stahleck.

last week, just before sending out the message about the cardpool, i talked with the german general distributor (Heidelberger) asking when the expasnion will finally be released in europe. they told me that the latest shipment from FFG containing the expansion will be delayed and wont be here till the end of this week. so i thought its best to have an early final decision and to exclude March from the cardpool.

however, the expansion in question was not March but the latest AGOT expansion (kings of the storm) - which had release date of 22nd sep.

when i received March yesterday i was surprised, still expecting the AGOT expasnion, not WHI. Heidelberger already had March for quite a while, just waiting fior the first day of release.

all of this just for your infomration why i reopened the discussion.

I just built my first deck with March of the Damned cards. I'm in:

Legalize it! =D
