Ispher and Poison

By dragon76, in Descent: Journeys in the Dark

As we all know Ispher is immune to poison.

In our game session yesterday the question was raised does this make him immune to any wounds from poison attacks or does it mean that he does not gain the poison tokens from such attacks?

Ispher's Ability:

At the start of his turn, Ispher recovers 1 wound. Ispher is immune to Poison.

Poison:

When a hero suffers one or more wounds from a poison attack, the player first removes the appropriate number of wound tokens from his hero sheet, as normal. The player then places a number of poison tokens on his hero sheet equal to the number of wounds suffered in the attack. If the hero later receives healing, these poison tokens are removed first, one token per wound that would otherwise be healed. Once all of the poison tokens have been removed, the hero's wounds can be healed normally.

An example of a trap dealing poison:

Play this card when a hero moves into an empty space. Place a one-space pit token on that space. Unless the hero rolls a blank on one power die, he falls into the pit and suffers 4 wounds (ignoring armor) of Poison damage. If he rolls a blank, he immediately moves to an adjacent space of his choice.

We played as though the damage and poison were separate issues, damage being dealt and then poison as an add-on to which Ispher was immune.

Thoughs and opinions?

You played correctly. He's not immune to damage, just poison tokens.

Agreed. Poison (in bold) is an ability. Ispher is immune to the effects of that ability, which means the attack proceeds as if it didn't have that ability.

Sadly, I am not immune to the wounds suffered through poison damage. I am only immune to the poison itself.
