Trapped in a non-gate out world

By msmithamp, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Forget how this situation began but wanted a quick opinion on it. My group was playing on Saturday and there was a card that sent an investigator to the Abyss to have an event. However the investigator became trapped in the Abyss when no gate to the Abyss was in play.

How does this impact the investigator returning to Arkham etc?

Thanks,

Mike

Normally you get Lost In Time and Space but I'm pretty sure that event ends with you going back to your original space.

Most encounters that send you to an OW should bring you back after you have your encounter. And most encounters will not prevent you from returning. Even if you are delayed, you still return—though you'll return delayed.

If you're ever in an Other World to which there's no open gate, nothing special happens. Only when you return from the other world during the movement phase and find that there are no valid exit gates are you lost in time and space.

Unless the nemesis is Yog, in which case, sux2bu.

What if the Other World Encounter sends you somewhere else? Like Lost in Time and Space, or an different Other World or Arkham Location? What if you are "Returned to Arkham"?

Just making sure you're as helpful as possible, O Wise Tibs of the Lost FAQ. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Yeah I was cutting corners in the interest of time. If the new encounter sends you from location B to location C, then it overrides the original encounter and you don't return to location A when the dust settles. It sucks, but it happens once in a while.

In essence there's only one slot available for "where I return to" and it holds the most recent place you're told to return to.
