How does it work really...

By KABOUMKABOUM, in CoC General Discussion

Hi cultists !

That's recently I discovered the existence of the Cthulhu CCG, and well seconds after discovered it became a LCG.

So okay, LCG is good for your money, that's for sure, but the thrill of opening a new booster and discover your new cards is priceless. Well in fact far from priceless but well, let's say some likes it ^^

I did check a little, but I didn't succeed to find clear information about the compatibility of the two versions (CCG and LCG), so here's a couple of questions :

- are the CCG cards compatibles with the LCG one's ?

- are ALL the cards of the CCG in the LCG ?

- or merely the LCG is a way to have a "base" deck and the CCG continues to provide new exiting cards ?

Thanks for reading, and sorry for potential weird english, I'm french.

Some people like to play LCG-only, some prefer CCG-only while others like to mix them. It all depends on the format you choose with your playgroup.

In tournament play CCG cards are illegal.

No, not all CCG cards were reprinted in the LCG format (and thank the Outer Gods for that).

Ad. 3.

LCG replaced CCG (which is now considered obsolete and I'm not sure if it's even being produced any more).

Well thanks that's perfectly clear =)

If you're french (your nickname really do make me feel I might be right), don't be shy and come ask the french community. Follow the link on my signature.

In case you're not french, I hope you'll gonna have nice games and enjoy this amazing game.

Off topic a bit - but vive la france ! - my friend at work is learning French and has gotten really good at it - he reads the French papers (he gets them from somewhere, I think Air France flight crew give them to him when they are done with them - lol) - and can understand entire articles about Art, Politics, Economics, etc - - I like the way the French translates to English - you can see what they are saying, even though the Thought Expression is constructed differently. :-O And the Wine Review section is not to be missed !

Thank you Rosh !

You've totally spot one of the thing that amaze me the most : French and English peoples did share a lot of words and contextual meanings, which can be explained by our common history, the kings that ruled both territories (Henry the Second Plantagenet, Alienor ...) and our status of best ennemies.

But the french nation is shared between latin population and northern (may you've heard about Oc and Oïl languages, which were both spoken before the official french was set in the Modern Era), so this may explain our different way of live, as the latin people have a slighty different language, more direct and a little less complex ...

You got me Prodigee, I am indeed french !

Crap, I thought it was not that obvious, I hope it's only my nickname ^^

As I'm writing English as a Spanish Cow, I won't have anything to say about something obvious in your statements, qualifying you as a french writer ... No, it's only your nickname, as I tend to share the same one (exclusively used by my family) !

Oye, no bromes con la vaca española!

I had all but given up on all CCG's, the LCG format has allowed me to get into CoC and W:I and I do have some some CoC CCG cards, but I choose not to use them so that I can play on equal footing with others I introduce the game to. I have purchased the Core Set as Xmas gifts for members of my family. If they don't have cards from a certain expansion, I won't use them.
