By De Joker nolf, in Tide of Iron

Hi, Im a 36 year old engineer who recently started a game club of board games.

I'm a Memior 44 player and recently got Tide of Iron,

I played the game 3 times now as the allies and i'm wondering if i missed out things.

I start putting the best possible squads together and move them for the next 4 - 5 rounds to the objective.

the last rounds i start to battle with the few squads i manage to get near ending with a final assault the last or second last round.

I manage to win 3 in a row this way.

But i'm wondering why so many units are left alone in this game, if i loose units in round 5 i never can get new ones in time to battle.

Same thing i see on the german side, he gets reinforcements but no actions to use them. Most of the time you need the 3 actions for the units that are already in battle leaving none for getting new units near the action.

par example: In crosroads, the american setup gets 12 squad base + 12 tanks + 2 half tracks = 26 units

you also get 8 rounds with 3 actions = 24 actions

so you can't move every unit one time during the whole game.

this doesn't feel right to me, or do i play it wrong?

Yes, you're playing it wrong. As many before you you've misunderstood the "3 actions per turn" phrase. This means you take 3 actions, then your opponent does, then you again etc. THIS CONTINUES UNTIL EACH UNIT HAS BEEN FATIQUED OR PUT IN OP-FIRE!

o, i'm glad i didn't teach anyone my way of playing.

I'm sure i read it sometime but while start playing the game it must get lost somewhere.

Anyway thanks a lot for the help

Im glad that got cleared up. That would be a terrible way to play. enfadado.gif
