Halo and rogue trader crossover?

okay i have a few questions:

1. In celebration of reach i noticed that the space combat and the fps combet reselmbles RT imo

2. I want to try and make a full cross over as close as possible but i need help to make the covenat species also if any one could help me odst, marine, and spartan I, II, and III.

3. Also if any one can come up for the various vehicals warthogs mongooses and the like

4. help converting the wepons in rt to halo weapons or make new wepons form scratch

5. Also some campaign ideas

I will have more questions as i dwell and try to pratcally make an rpg so are there any halo fans out there up for the challenge if you are please just post below and we'll try and make one of the most epic hombrews in RT

You would be better off using a system like GURPS for this, as it has a modular design system for just about everything. Or perhaps you should go look at Deathwatch, since Halo seems to be just a shooter game.

Halo wouldn't really work with RT or DH. RT is about exploring, DH is about investigating. DW might be a better fit assuming you want to be Spartans, but with the heavy amount of editing to fit Halo into DW you're better off using GURPs, M&M, or any generic system.

As much as I hate Halo, they try and write a lot of backstory into it with wierd conspiracies and the like, which would provide an opportunity for someone to do more than shoot at the bad guys the whole time (but yes, a FPS is pretty much about nothing BUT shooting a people).

But I would tend to agree with the previous posters, a generic RPG system would be easier to convert. If you're looking for a fully fleshed system, that would be the best way to go. You've got way different technology, way more advanced energy shields, a total lack of chaos powers, predominance of gunpowder based weapons, etc.

But, in an effort to be helpful...

For your character classes, pick a level of influence/ability they want to have and then pick a game line. Fresher recruits with little experinece? DH rules. More of the commanders and captains? RT. For the Spartans? DW. I'd just take the armor and weapons and repurpose them, and probably have to cut out boltguns. Remove the corruption and psi systems, and then just take comparable vehicles and move their stats over to your Halo ones. An example would be the warthog- give it a basic car's stats, slap a little bit of armor on it (not much) and give it a mounted heavy weapon like a multilaser.

One thing to keep in mind, is in the Halo universe there is a huge discrepancy in skills, abilities, and power, much like in 4kRP. A marine/ODST or not, won't stand up to the Spartans in any way, they'll just get crushed. Much like a new DH character will get outshined at every opportunity by a DW character. Also keep in mind the Halo timeline- nearly all the Spartans got nuked on Reach, and given that the other 4 games in the setting focus on the one remaining spartan, it would seem there would be few, if any, opportunities to play one and stay within their created back story.

For the covenant, pick and choose between the existing xenos profiles for something that fits- does it specialized in hand to hand? Steal a Genestealer profile. Ranged combat, maybe a Tau?

Finally, beware posting what you come up with in a public forum - keep it relatively private to you and your group of players. Bungie and Microsoft aren't exactly slouches when it comes to suing the pants off of people that take their stuff (and the U.S. Copyright system helps ensure that they really don't have a choice but to sue you lest they lose control of their IP). You could be opening yourself up to a cease and desist or worse.

First of all thank you all... i will try to use your generic systems. Also the setting was gonna be after the war since reach gets terraformed back and the covenet is still operational in an unkown fasion but ill make them a more remenat force and even thou the flood is dead im thinking of bringing them back. And yeah i might just make the story as i go since me and my group grew up with halo we have so many thoughts also if any one wants to find out what my rpg turns out to be just pm me and ill keep you posted

seems like a simple transition, your spartan would be a spacemarine from the deathwatch book, marines would be the guardsman class from DH, ship captains and other ship board characters would be from RT. though Johnson would more than likely fit as a Arch-militant. next your the enemy will need to be changed due to the fact that the tua empire is on the other end of the galaxy. chaos cultist or orks should work. weapons? no need to convert. the battle rifle can be switched out for the bolter, the new Into the Storm book has weapons has some things that could work, just keep them relevent to the enemy you choose. don't try to include the ships from halo. the ships from the RT books are many time larger and more powerful. any way i hope your game works out, sounds like fun

Halo is a crappy franchise, just don't.
