Pets you'd like to see

By Emirikol, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

This is a thread resurrected. Sunatet's working on this for the Liber Fanatica #7. Which Imperial-Themed pets would you like to see (besides the Kislev Bear)?

Thanks,

Good idea.

I like to see stats (and tricks) for a falcon.

The K-bear would be great, too, cause in the next 2 sessions my players will have the opportunity too catch or grapple with a bear at a feast. gran_risa.gif

BTW, I made stats and a follower card for a "Reikland Schäferhund" with one extra trick-action-card.

If anybody is interested.

I'd like to see the Shauferhaund make it into Liber Fanatica as we're focusing on Imperial animals.

The bear would be cool. I vote for that!

Also, how about those fancy Bretonnian horses? (Subtle hint to FFG as well... )

We're planning on only doing Imperial animals for starters and stuff that FFG isn't going to release in a later boxed set, so probably no Kislev bears or Bretonnian mounts (e.g. the Khorne boxed set will probably have a lot of detail on mounts). Anybody have suggestions for animals in the Empire that would be relevant (and especially true to canon)?

Other dog breeds would be cool, like the Tilean mastiff from Eye for an Eye, maybe for a Houndsman or Kennel Master career. Mounts could be pets to for mounted careers, maybe we'll see that in the War supplement. What about wizard familiars?

I never knew how often you get to see a gryphon in the Warhammer world, but as I seen a drawing of the Emperor riding one, I guess they do exist...

Generally, I prefer to imagine "regular" animals. I like the idea of the falcon, that would be a necessity. Small monkeys do good companions to pirates and Tileans... I cannot expect a snake to be trained, but they would do great companions for a Witch. Rats, maybe? They are ever so present. Would an ulrican woodsman train a wolf as a pet? Perhaps some halflings could ride elks for some Princess Mononoke insipration. Also, perhaps we could see different stats and subtleties for different types of dogs...

Some Chaos afflicted animals for Chaos hordes?

Medium-size but excitable dog

Large but friendly dog

A cat?

Although I'd be careful that a 'trained' cat didn't do things as actively as a dog. I would make them more comforting, distracting etc, rather than 'jump in front of the bad guy to take a hit for me' sort of animals.

That's what I was thinking. Cat won't be worth a crap in combat other than maybe as a distraction, but we don't have much on familiars yet. That might surface in the hedge magic stuff coming out in the Marienburg adventure.

Anybody know of any other Warhammer-canon-based animals? Were any used in the novels? The Tilean warhound is definitely solid canon goodness :)

A bear seems grossly over the top to me, and I can't see many GMs going for it, unless it's one of those small ones from Darkest Lustria with a fondness for marmalade. They cause just the right sort of trouble.

However, a few additional dogs (I'd suggest sheep dogs, guard dogs and blood hounds), horses and donkeys, ferrets, hunting birds and homing pigeons, and possibly some pets of limited use such as snakes, rats and large spiders.

Cheers

Polar bear! one of the pet cards have a picture of an polar bear if I'm not mistaken. Altso ferrets and wolverines would be cool pets to have. What about a racoon for an advanced thief-like career? the racoon could be trained to sneak in and opend doors from the inside, help the thief to sniff out where to hidden gold is, etc etc, unless he get distracted by a dumpster that is.

Ferrets please, with an 'Up the Trouser' Action Card... your opponent suffers three challenge dice to any action as your ferret stalks his nether regions.

I was really hoping some familiar/pets would show up in Winds of Magic, but similar animals for mystics and witches would be cool... cats, owls, ferrets. I wonder if the 'fighter' box that is going to have rules on mounted combat will treat horses as pets, too.

cats would be cool - give them talents like 'just cant be bothered", 'hairball', 'licks-arse-in-your-general-direction' and 'do I know you?' for authenticity. These might be triggered when you want them to do something for you ("yes kitty, just fetch the drunken jailors keys for me." - Blank stare then licks bum). Not incredibly useful, but Gods! they could really annoy the PC's.

Not just the PCs. One of my cats has the uncanny Talent, 'Sit on the Action card you're trying to use at that very moment.'

Also, 'Nonchalantly flick recharge tokens with tail.'

I think I may own one of your cats siblings. Ears, teeth, lots of fur and a bad attitude?

dude ... I know its off topic - but where did you get the sweet medieval town terrain?

(also awesome cats)

From Dave Graffam, who is a big WFRP fan and, I believe, a member of these forums.

Yes very nice cats. What creature card are they? I think those guys on the ship are SOL.

I like to see FFG expand the dog for ratcatcher. Different types of dogs with different talents.

He he, nice cat. the picture could read: After a long day of tormenting the villagers the cat "kraken" takes a much needed rest in the harbour. Nice townhappy.gif036.jpg
