Rules Of The Talisman Game. :)

By XxZeebroxX, in Talisman

hello everyone, i bet in the past or even in the future you and your friends playing Talisman have had arguments about the wording and the way the game play goes this topic i have created for the reason because every time i play Talisman ( which i play alot) i have an argument to the near point of a fight of this game lol i know silly but 4 guys playing and previous heated winning times have coursed this lol. So people like me how need answers like me and my friends please help me when i ask questions because i so close to smashing one of my friends noses in at the fact the swear and roar about this game lol.

thank you so much and i hope i get some answers as im just a bout to start a NEW GAME OF IT LOL. and im not looking forward to the arguments to come.!?!

thanks signed Aaron white. :P

hi guys need a question this is a noob one cards like pool of life and magic stream , which grant a stat of life. do you get a life of start which you draw the card or do you have to visit it when it's face up on the board.? please need a quick answer asap.

The person who drew said Place card does get the first point from it, assuming his turn doesn't end or he doesn't get teleported to some other space before he gets around to encounter #6.

P.S. There is a Rules Question forum, but it's just for show I think gran_risa.gif .

What you do is, nominate who will be Gamesmaster. When it comes to a dispute, the Gamesmaster makes the decision on the rule and then everyone is required to accept it. Have a different Gamesmaster each time you play... Its the responsiblity of the Gamesmaster to step back and come to an impartial ruling, and to be consistant throughtout the game and inline with rulings made in previous games.

If the Gamesmaster starts just ruling in favour of himself then maybe you arn't old enough to play Talisman partido_risa.gif

Exact! If there's no end-turn effect he can take the first point :)

Can the Highlander charge in multiple fights in one turn like against the Ice Queen when he has to kill her four times in a row (charge each time losing four turns after battle)?

If you go by only what it says on the cards, then it looks like you can charge repeatedly within the encounter with the Ice Queen. Missing 4 turns is not required as the card only says to miss your next turn after a charge.

If you want to apply some sense, then if you are recovering your wits after 1 single charge, then it makes no sense that you could repeatedly charge during one turn. But on balance, I would go with what it says on the cards, as if you remove the ability to charge in this situation then you remove a key ability of the Highlander.

The semantics of the game is one of our favourite things.

We love to discuss the whereto's and therefore's of everything. We almost have as much pleasure doing that as killing off monsters and each other.

I like the idea of a games master. However, this assumes you have a team of players where everybody is fairly knowledgeable with the rules, not always the fact. It is very dangerous to over-interpret and cynicize the game, especially when new players are around, because it leaves the impression that unless you know the law and can argue it to the bone you have no chance...

Consensus-driven reason is not always possible, agree, but most of the time I think it can resolve most disputes, even when there are several newbies on board.

If you play with people who need to "know the law and can argue it to the bone" to have a chance to win then I suggest you look for other players who understand the "Golden Rule Of Talisman" which is in essence to be competitive but mostly to have fun and enjoy the game.

Arguing session over rules are not my definition of a fun time...

Cheers,
