So I noticed after reading both that counterspell is actually better in some situations than Imp. Counterspell.
Counterspell says under special: After you are declared as a target of a supernatural or spell action, you may........
Imp. Counterspell says: After an enemy within close range declares a supernatural or spell action, you may.....
So in any situation where you are the target of a spell from an enemy further away than close range you'd actually rather want the counterspell since(strictly speaking) the Improved Counterspell doesn't work.
That is kinda strange. Since you don't retain the counterspell card when you obtain the Imp. Counterspell I'd say this is an error or oversight on the designers part (unless I'm overseeing something). Hopefully this will be adresses in a future expansion, which is also there real reason I'm bringing this up. To get some attention to the fact.
I guess in the meantime I'll just rule that both the effects are retained within the Imp. Counterspell.
