Games Day UK

By Lightbringer, in Deathwatch

This is coming up this weekend, isn't it? Who's going then? I'm not, but it would be interesting to see if a few forumites might get a chance to meet in the flesh...I seem to recall Millandson mentioned he was going, and would be wearing a rather stylish Dark Reign T-shirt.

Plus this Games Day will no doubt be where GW finally lift the veil on whatever massive 40k project they've clearly been working on for months. When they don't produce a single 40k codex or article in White Dwarf for months on end, it usually means they're up to something... I hope those of you going will share full details! happy.gif

Yep, I'm gonna be there in my awesome Dark Reign t-shirt, and I'm gonna be with a few friends. Nathan (N0-1-H3r3) is also gonna be there, as I'm meeting up with him hopefully at some point during the proceedings.

From what the Games Days info says, they'll be releasing info on the new Dark Eldar model range and Codex, which should be pretty cool. I'm gonna try and get seminar tickets for that happy.gif

take lots of pics Mill, pretty please gran_risa.gif

I'm gonna be taking my £350 semi-professional grade digital camera with me, so you can rest assured I'll be grabbing some pictures! It'll give me a chance to practice my photography skills at any rate gran_risa.gif

Because, in the grim-dark future of 40k, the price of the camera matters. gui%C3%B1o.gif

On the other hand, thumbs up for incriminating photos!

When it comes to the quality of the pictures, it does matter lengua.gif At least, as long as you have a decent photographer behind it. The most expensive camera in the world won't make an awful photographer produce good photos, just good quality bad photos lengua.gif

But yea, I'll try to get some good photos in, assuming mere mortals (aka: non-GW people) are allowed to take photographs.

Well have a good time everyone, I'm kind of jealous, would have been nice to meet you all, I should have really got my act together and gone! I haven't been to one of these since 1993... sad.gif

My last one was 2003, and I got my program signed by about a dozen of the GW authors, devs and model designers. It was awesome happy.gif

Plus, given the stupid prices some GW fans will pay for stuff, I'm hopefully that program might be worth something someday lengua.gif gui%C3%B1o.gif

I'll be there, as Millandson has mentioned. If anyone is there and has a copy of Into the Storm that they'd like to have signed by one of the writers, let me know... happy.gif

Why do you think I've got my copy of Into The Storm packed into my rucksack? lengua.gif

Is anyone else going then? I'd be good to meet other RPG fans there happy.gif

I understand that Games Workshop will be revealing the new Dark Eldar at the event. Which excites me greatly.

Yep, that's what I heard, though I don't think by "reveal" they mean that it'll be available, just that they'll be announcing that they're redoing them. If there is a seminar on that (like there was last time I was at a Games Day in 2003, on the Sister's of Battle (about 6 months or so before they were released)) I'd love to go to it.

I wish I could go. I really want that new Necron model Forge World is selling there :(

I have never been a fan of conventions. But If i was going to go to one, it would be a Games day one. Still they are many days away by car or an expensive plan ticket to England. Also the whole thing is a little too expensive for my tastes once everything is paid for. Have fun mill, send us some pictures.

I'll make sure to put some up.

Where abouts do you live though? Most Western European countries have their own Games Days, and the US has a couple, I believe, in different areas of the country.

Have fun, those who are going. Looking forward to seeing some info.

Near the rocky mountains, in colorado. Most of the Games day cons take place on the east coast.

Hey, I only just started posting here, and I saw a Games Day UK 2010 thread and decided to post XD

Ill be going this year (tomorow) and I've been for the last three years running XD

Ill be wearing a black and white baseball cap with a red iron cross on the front, It'll also have the word INDEPENDENT on it. Come to think of it... I may wear a badge with "time-flieslove-me-now" on it.......

Ill be taking a digital Camera with me, though I dont know where I'll be posting the photos.... Is there a section on this website for doing it?

Not really. I'll probably put them up in a Photobucket album or something, or post a lot of them on Dark Reign.

As for me, I'll be wearing the below t-shirt that I made:

DarkReignT-Shirt1.jpg

so if anyone sees that t-shirt, it's me wearing it lengua.gif

Are you going to post them on the Rpol forums, or keep it to dark reign Mill?

Well, since you can't post pictures on RPOL unless you are a GM in a game, or an admin of the site, I'd be hard-pressed to post them up gui%C3%B1o.gif

I might well link my Photobucket album if I remember to, otherwise I'll just be posting them up on Dark Reign and/or here.

Fair enough, just found out that you can post pictures on RPOL, so I probably will put them up there too lengua.gif

Just got back, and it was brilliant! Tonnes of stuff to see and do, FFG had about quarter of one of the halls to themselves, with tonnes of people buying DH/RT/DW gran_risa.gif A couple of the FFG staffers on the stalls chatted with me for a bit, and had about a dozen random people (sorry if I've forgotten who you were lengua.gif ) come up to me and start chatting away about RPGs and RT.

Awesomely, Andy Hoare was there, and he recognised me too (he surfs the FFG/Dark Reign forums frequently, apparently) and I annoyed a whole queue of people by having a 15 minute chat about roleplaying and our own RT games and groups, and all that stuff, so that was sweet! gran_risa.gif

All in all, a great day out! I'll try to have the photos I took up over the next couple of days.
