the cthulhu dabbler is nice. it let's you link to a card. the image is small though. With deckbuilder, I need to borrow from the image file and upload it to a website to put it on the boards. Can deckbuilder do it. can dabbler do a bigger image after the search.
cthulhu dabbler
I really enjoy Cthulhu Dabbler. cthulhu.dbler.com/
While Nyarlzabec's deck builder is the best, I find the dabbler database website to be very user friendly without any prior knowledge of how to get the deckbuilder to work. Plus, its not blocked at work so I can browse cards at the job....
or anywhere else. Iphone, etc. Which is why I think its a good thing the pics are small. Big enough to recognize, but small enough for fast load.
It has its uses. It also has a few bugs but the administrator of the site takes all feedback and quickly fixes errors.
Frankly, its a godsend and a database is something FFG needs to institute on their own site for all of their LCGs.

Hi,
If you mean some way to get the dabbler's url of a displayed card, for use in this board, then it could be a specific export format with no problem.
For the pictures, I'm not sure the creator of the site would want that : it could generate a lot of bandwidth usage.
I am open to discuss this with the dabbler's creator
Cheers,
Nyarla
Kinda agree with Nyarlazorbec's point. FFG may not want the card to be downloadable.
The deckbuilder has the advantage to have the card displayed in a format you cannot print (as the card has errata and so on)... having the possibility to print proxies is not a good thing for the society which sales this !
I LOVE this debate. I went to 60 old dead shows, taped four of them. The fans will love the game more if they can interact with it as in the deckbuilder, and if they can send images to friends, making a new fan. FFG has the RIGHT attitude. In the age of the download, FFG is forward thinking. We want the cards. We could print proxies. Someone could go through great lengths to make good reproductions. But it's just not a problem.
Now with music, we need mention. Dave Mathews Band can suck it with their anti taper attitude. But Kid Rock has it right. Stealing music is different. You are stealing. Why not steal a Toyota. They're rich too.
The long history of baseball cards and sport cards and tobacco cards and antique collecting teaches us that the true card has its intrinsic value. And forgers are forgers.
OK, maybe there's a community in Falcon Heights or Lauderdale that's producing a pile of illegal cards and border hopping to besmirch Arkham Nights. But I doubt it.
And the reason I want to manipulate the card is to use it in a post. Hell, FFG could just have an image button on the site. Now that would be rad.
There is so much truth in Johnny Shoe's post, its like he is farting spotlight beams out of his bum, exposing thoughtcrime for what it is.
Doubleplusgood.
If the cards were collectible, there could be a problem. But since they are reasonably priced non-collectible goods which appear to be in a constant state of reprint (judging by the upcoming page), the issue of forgery is a minimal if a non-existent one.
Shoes often speaks wisdom. But the visual of him farting spotlights is a bit too much for my ancient sensibilities. I call oversharing.
Yeah, well I say Dave Mathew's Band is the exposed bum and sounds like criminal farting.
On another note, LCG is collectible. You have it, you have three, or you don't. You can't afford it. You won't afford it. You didn't get it. You couldn't find it. You didn't try. It's not reprinted. It's in some online store that exists only in hell. You found weird fiction yesterday. You found your dream deck yesterday. Some one broke in and stole your cthulhu cards and this weeks underwear. Face it. It's collectible. And if you want a rare card, peh. You're in deep.
And if you want a rare card under the glass case, you can take your magic cards and D.M.B. downloads and...
Well, you might have the right opinion and speaking truth, there is still something called property laws ... Which still allows FFG to ask the people who host the card images in their site to
1. make mention of the owner of the image, the series and potentially the drawer.
2. Ask someone to remove the card from a site, whether it's not donwloadable.
We encountered the problem while we created the Cenacle, and the better solution we finally had was the one Nyarlazorbec proposed.
If FFG's policy in protection of intellectual property ever allows us to go further, I hope we will benefit it. I kinda prefer waiting where I stand before trying new evolutions, as the society did'nt answer any purpose, in any manneer.
But, if you are successfull and don't encounter problems, everything will be ok and I wish you the best for your site !
You are right Shoes, they are collectible in a manner of speaking. But no more collectible than clothing or food.
I just see a huge difference between a fistful of cards I can buy between $10-15 which have no relative value beyond what was initially paid, and the Black Lotus itching to be reprinted to make money from some unsuspecting dupe.
Not only have FFG made this type of game more consumer friendly, they have also solidified their income from the products by removing the artificially inflated prices caused by an ultra limited supply versus a relatively high demand. No need to print illegal proxies when you can just go down to the store and buy a pack for the cards you need.
Now all FFG need to do is get those older asylum packs back into print/circulation to avoid those rising costs going around lately.
If I were FFG, or any creative entity lucky enough to produce something, I'd watch very closely how my work is treated. For sure. If my work were used against me or my beliefs or for another's financial gain, I'd take action. Rockers tell right wing aholes to stop using their songs in their motivational cracker moments.
Moulensarte, who is Tintin and Herge, is super protective. I'd like to debate them some time.
But to furthur my vision, I'd be honored to compromise my dominion, had I one.
Let's debate rares and uncommons versus the new AP soon...

There's one thing though that the fraudsters never seem to be able to copy: quality . Put a real Pokemon card next to a fake one and you'll see what I mean here.
I want my cards as cheap as possible and I want them as soon as I can get them, but I will not let that get in the way of the game experience. The real cards look utterly fantastic and that warm fuzzy feeling you get from getting your cards legally also helps the clever people at FFG feed their families.
It's a no brainer really. Besides there's nothing any of us could say that would convince the fraudsters or the customers to do otherwise.

Besides I've seen people at my club pay more for a single expansion of MtG than I'm likely to pay for any/all of the CoC cards I'm likely to purchase.
