We are reading the instructions but we are not understanding how range works for a cannon firing on to land, can someone please clarify!!!

1. Declare the attack with the cannon and pick the target space.

2. Check LOS to the target space.

3. Count range to the target space.

4. Shoot the cannon exactly as you would at a seaborne target.

5. Apply the results exactly as you would a seaborne target.

What part isn't clear, and why isn't it clear?
