Have I Solved the Mystery ? - The Red Gloved Man !

By The Dog of War, in CoC General Discussion

I have a fun little sleuthing adventure underway, though it may not be all that revelationary....

...anyways....you probably know about "The Red Gloved Man" - unique character seen all throughout "The Yuggoth Contract" - cards. He has his own special unique card, where he is listed as "Conspirator" - and all you see is his red gloves, and a sharp glistening dagger. His face is covered in shadows, and remains unseen.

He also appears on several of the Conspiracy cards in that cycle, like "The Guardian of the Key" and "The Locked Gate".

Anyways, I won a huge auction of CCG and LCG cards from Ebay a while back, and it finally arrived in the mail.

Imagine my surprise when, while flipping through my newfound card stocks, I discovered this one:

The Voice on the Phone - The New Boss ( Syndicate Unique Character )

Type: AVATAR OF NYARLATHOTEP

"It was barely a whisper, and the connection crackled with the distance."

------------------------

Now..the part that really piqued my interest was his attire...it's a guy....seated at a desk and looking out the window of the room he's in. He's on the phone, and it's hard to tell - but he "might" be wearing skin-tight gloves, like the Red Gloved Man picture has. Regardless, the hat style is the same as the Red Gloved Man...and the clincher, for me at least, is the dagger lying on the table behind him. It's similiar (though not identical, I think) to the dagger wielded by the Red Gloved Man in most of his images.

Conclusion....

The Red Gloved Man is quite probably....

NYARLATHOTEP ! - The Crawling Chaos !

What do ya' think, guys ? Do I get a cookie for outstanding sleuthing ?! gran_risa.gif

I think the red gloved man is a Mi-Go.

Mi-go are known for being in disguise while on earth. In addition, this set certainly is geared towards Mi-go. The set is called the 'Yuggoth Contract' and Mi-go are known as the Fungi from Yuggoth. Perhaps this specific Mi-go is here to facilitate such a covenant?

There was an interesting Mythos CCG card that had a picture of a disguised Mi-go which was rather cleverly painted for its time a dozen years ago.

*spends ten minutes trolling the net for a pic* Found it.

I have no idea who the red-gloved man really is, thats just my best guess.

He could be Nyarlathotep. The Cthulhu character Carl Stanford from secrets of arkham has an ability that affects both cultists or Mask creatures. Sine there is no instance of a Mask creature in the LCG, it could very well be a sign of his coming (which in turn would be a sign of even more greater beings that he serves coming into play)

Your voice on the phone, alleged avatar of nyarlathotep, may well be the new boss, but the glove is not red and the valyrian blade is not from the same wager in the lists. Nevertheless, the movie, the red glove, proves nothing, but immenently at least.

Now, the mi-go mask has been linked to Carl Sanford, game designer in Palamona Hills, Utah. Carl Stanford, with a T is not taking calls or tweets about changing factions to the order. His agent will say only he is under contract with cthulhu. Any discusion by cthulhu of Carl Stanford's status would be in conflict with the Collective Byakhee Agreement and result in you being eaten.

Interesting theory on the Mi-Go possibility....

....one thing I find shocking is just how horrific Nyarlathotep's "true form" (if such a statement can be made) is... one look at the abomination and anyone's mind would be shattered !

Maybe it's a kindness (in a twisted sense) that he walks so frequently in his Avatar "Masks" - when dealing with mankind ? (shudder!) preocupado.gif

If he is a Mi-Go why would he need the form of man to deal with the Guardian of the Key and why use a knife when his natural claws would suffice? I think he's just a man but one who does the dirty work for whichever conspiracy group he works for. What his connection is to the Mi-Go we'll see soon enough I'm sure.

Conversely, why would Nyarlathotep need the same? In the same line of logic, why would a mere man bring a knife to a monster fight? gui%C3%B1o.gif

He very well could be just some random scrub. But that explanation I find a let down. More mysterious to beleive the reason why they chose to give this person such distinction is because it is more than human.

Just ask Joss Whedon. I am sure he had the same reason for "hands of blue" in Firefly.

Nice theories, conspiracy theorists! Keep watching! :D
