UFS - Soul Calibur IV

By dshaffer, in UFS General Discussion

It occurs to me that I dont beleive we've ever had an official announcement for the Soul Calibur IV license. It's been hinted at repeatedly, and I doubt anyone has any doubts that it's on its way, but nothing official. Why do I bring this up? Because we're starting to see advertisements for it.

Soul Calibur IV - Tower of Souls. Game Trader has a full page advertisement for it, with Hilde front and center. Multiple online stores are displaying pre-orders for the set. Yet, not one official announcement for it on the UFS pages. I realise contractual obligations mean that FFG doesnt always control of when they get to announce these type of things, but the cat it truely out of the bag here, guys. It's time to start pumping up hype for it!

" Universal Fighting System: Soul Calibur III—Tower of Souls Soul Calibur IV: Tower of Souls introduces new versions of Ivy, Nightmare, and Siegfried, plus five other characters from the hit fighting video game of the year to the UFS arena. The first expansion from new UFS designer and current world champion James Hata, Tower of Souls features a 144-card base set and serves as an ideal starting point for new players."

Their products page for some time now has listed Soul Calibur IV for UFS with a pic of a Soul Calibur III booster.

Did they? *Checks over the entire UFS area*

Ah, found it. Ok...so it's got a little bit of mention on the FFG site but it's still a rather thread-bare thing, especially when there's not one bit of Soul Calibur IV trade dress anywhere on the site. This is, more or less, a new license. They should be advertising that to the hilt on the website, not relying on an easily skipped over, and fairly unremarkable, text panel.

If it works, don't fix it, and barely mentioning anything seems to have worked so far.

I am incredibly excited about this. Nightmare getting a new form and fresh new support as well as ivy they really need it. I am also hopeing for the return of my beloved Tira x3

Nightmare, you say?

Hey guys,

Yes it is official SC IV is going to be one of the new base sets in March. The reason it did not get an official press release is a long and complicated story but rest assured we will be hyping it up along with our new IP ShadoWar. which is the other base set.

In answer to another question I saw in the thread, yes Tira is in the set and James had an awesome idea for her that has never been done before that I think people will really like, it represents her character in SC IV very well.

See you in the arena,

Steve

I'll be shocked if Hilde isn't one of them, and it'd be nice to see Amy get a proper release, as I know she's got her own fanbase as good as her daddy has, if not bigger. Also, any thoughts on a promo Algol or the bonus characters (I know they're guests, but they ARE specific to SCIV unlike the Star Wars characters. *prays for Shura*)

Glad to hear Ivy's in the set. Can we make her less naff this time though please? And I'd love it if we could stay away from the life gain, more obscure aggro, like she should be.

Also, here's hoping for ..Soul Edge.. and ..Soul Calibur.. being amazingly awesome and playable in every deck :D I'd grovel to have both in a deck (preferably Nightmare for irony's sake) and use them effectively as a combo!

this charecter may only be atacked once a turn by a charecter that is taller than yoda. when you deal damage gain 3 health.

R: comit: when taking damage from an attack reduce it to it's printed damage.

broken, but very funny.
