Reading the forums, I'm getting more and more in the mood of finally reading one of the Warhammer novels. Could you suggest me some that describes well the world?
Cheers!

So many novels...
Some love Slayer-novels, others dont. Even so, they are good to read, but most of all, they do give nice picture about different parts of the world. And also different aspects of Warhammer fluff (Chaos, Beastmen, Cultists, Skaven, Daemons, Dwarfs...etc.).
As jackdays says, there's so many novels. What part of Warhammer are you interested in? Any particular races or themes?
For something that could be considered WFRP-ish I'd reccomend the Blackhearts book. It follows a mottley crew of adventurers, press-ganged into service under a noble who sends them on various missions.
The writings of Jack Yeovil - especially Drachenfels and Beasts in Velvet - are fantastic.
I like the Witch Hunter omnibus by C.L. Werner, personally ![]()
Witch Hunter series is good, and I think 2nd best as a writing after Drachenfels.
The Black Hearts omnibus is also good.
The Bruner series is a bit grim at times but worth reading.
Drachenfels is a good book as a book (best of the the set in my view), but can be a bit "off canon" at times (e.g., a sympathetic vampire - you don't see many of those)
Really, great suggestions all, but as you can imagine I'm having trouble deciding. What I figured out is that I'm wanting to see more of the common world of Warhammer coming to life. I don't expect there is much on this regard, describing the small stuff, or books about common people getting involved in serious things.
Do you have any suggestion based on that? I'm thinking Blackhearts might be closer...
Thanks!
You should also check out the Warhammer comic books. You can probably find a lot of them online.
jh
Some great suggestions here. Really, anything people have called out would be good.
That said, I think the Gotrek and Felix books provide a snapshot of both the history and evolution of the setting, as well as a fun, pulpy read. They are, to some extent, the books that defined the setting in the WFB 3rd/4th and later WFB 1st era, and bridge the gritty ground-up view of WFRP to Warhammer Fantasy Battles' more epic and heroic top-down version. They first omnibus is probably the most quintessential Warhammer novel out there, with Jack Yeovil, CL Werner, and Dan Abnett's books behind the rest of the F&G series.
Also, you can hit up the link in my sig for a somewhat updated collection of mini-reviews for dozens of Warhammer books.

Blackhearts is the one I can think of that fits that the closest. They're not in "normal" situations, but at least the characters are from relatively mundane backgrounds, much like your average WFRP party.
Other than that, I'm generally a CL Werner fan. Not all his books are great, but I allways feel like the Warhammer setting has become slightly richer after reading one of his books.
The Tales of the Old World Omnibus is also an option, it has a ton of short stories covering a wide waterfront..
It includes a story from Blackhearts (to see if you l like that) and a Florin and Lorenzo story (I don't think the Adventures of Florin and Lorenzo are mentioned so far).
I'm like yourself, I wondered what books to get. The main three I got directed towards was the first omnibus for Gotrek & Felix, Blackhearts Omnibus as well as Brunner.
I have the last two and the first was sold out at the time. I am enjoying Brunner very much so and only a small way into it. My next purchase will be the vampire books it seems as mentioned above
Oh and obviously Witch Hunter!
I went for Witch Hunter, The Black Hearts Omnibus and Brunner. They'll get here around mid October. I'm eager to start reading!
I guess I'll begin with Blackhearts, for reasons mentioned: closer to a party of players. Also, my players are a bunch of do-it-alls, so I guess it will be good inspiration.
I'm also very glad ("radiant" would probably be a better word) that I've ordered Liber Chaotica Complete from Black Library. I thought I would never get that chance, since it is rather expensive from Amazon...
I recently spent some time looking for Warhammer novels that would be most applicable to WFRP Empire locales and non-military or non-noble characters. The best book I found matching this criteria is the Witch Hunter omnibus by C.L. Werner. It really aligns well with WFRP 3rd edition.
I thought Tales of the Old World would be good, but was a bit disappointed. Not that the book is bad, just that so little of it met my criteria.
