Bring back the gods of law

By Morffe, in Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay

I would like FFG to bring back the Gods of law from the first edition, what do you think?
For those that do not know of the Gods of Law here is short summary (including my take on them).

The Gods of Law came into existence at the same time as the Chaos gods. But unlike the other gods, -who represented ideals of humans, dwarves and elves, and where born out of the Aethyric realms by the calls and needs of those races, The gods of law came into existence as an sheer reaction to the intruding Chaos. Thus they remain alien and even uncaring of mankind. Of the many only three are known.

Alluminas (body), the master of light, an everlasting and unchanging source of pure light which is said to immobilize anything it strikes, rendering it unmoving and unchanging. his alien mind makes him whorshiped by only the most insane lunatic.
Solkan (sword), the master of vengeance, an angry god who inflicts the retribution of the Gods of Law on those who offend them. Of the law gods, he is the least unpopular of them, and a few Witch-hunters worship him and follow his strictures.
Arianka (mind), of the law gods, she was the one that cared most for the suffering of the races, and acted as messenger to the uncaring gods of Law on the behalf of the humans. This was her weakness, as she was defeated by an unnamed Chaos god or prince. it’s said she lies in a crystal coffin hidden somewhere in the Old world. She can only be freed from her coffin by means of some crystal keys.

T he shards of Chaos theory. (based upon my campaign shards of Chaos)
When Arianka was defeated the cried out in agony and desperation, knowing that she would forever be kept away from the races she so much cared for. That agonizing scream reached the heart of her conqueror, and the Deamon’s heart crystallized and shattered into several great shards that was thrown to all corners of the world. The Deamon still alive, although diminishing in powers could not kill her, so he imprisoned Arianka in his own flesh that was crystallizing from the powerful spell she had invoked. Since Arianka was the mind and messenger of the trinity, the two other law gods, diminished and faded into an everlasting slumber, thus enabling the tide of chaos to surge forward, corrupting the balance of fate itself. The followers believe that by bringing the shards together it will form into an compass and key that will show Arianka’s final resting place. And by setting her free they will resurrect the Law gods of Trinity and restore the balance of fate.

I might have mentioned this in another thread, but I couldn't find it.

Yes, those old Gods from the 1st edition. Those were great, I even remember my players chosing of of them as the main God. But there come back is a big unanwsered question. It all depends from GW and the licence, the same goes for Fimir. If FFG would have a green light for this one then they would use them. But nothing stands in the way of players - You can always use them without the official rules.

The Gods of Law were really just a leftover of the Michael Moorcock (whose fault it all is - see if you get that reference) influences. They don't really fit into the modern Warhammer ideas, where even the more traditionally 'good' emotions power the warp entities (e.g. hope) and the concept of Witchhunters slaughtering empowering Khorne etc. Even in 1st ed, they were never really thought of again in the Warhammer world after the inital rulebook (er. ... did WFB3e have 'Angels of Law'?). In fact the Law gods have really been replaced by .. er .. more Chaos gods as the concepts of Chaos in the canon has matured.

Your (old) world may vary, but they would not sit well with the currently 'canon' concepts.

I don't see what the benefit of bringing them back would do? You have 'good' gods already what purpose would Law gods bring. You have Chaos and you have everything else. No need to have a balancing force of Law.

You could easily bring them back as a cult worshipped by individuals who survived chaos attacks or what not.

Heck, you culd even do them as "disguised" chaos cults.

I don't think they've ever really gone away, though they certainly have been given no real attention in the tabletop game.

I believe the Brunner books have a city with a very active Solkan presence so it's still part of the canon.

But isnt the Brunner Omnibus just a collection of very old Black Library books?

I think they are, but I could be mistaken.
