The advent of Daoloth

By Julia, in Arkham Horror Second Edition

Just revealed the two new AOs: Daoloth and an improved version of Cthulhu. Wondering how our little Cthulhu will be boosted :-)

Exactly the 2 I was reckoning on.

I hope some plucky person grills Richard on the future of Arkham Horror at the scheduled interrogation.

I know he's iconic, but Nyarlathotep really needed an update more than Cthulhu did.

I guess, so long as Daoloth has Sinister Plot cards I'll be happy.

I think Cthulhu is going to be the first of many upgrades - Id hazard that all of the original 8 are eventually going to get upgraded. I actually first said this in the old forums on release of DH, as it seeed inevitable. But, maybe, its only gonna be the big green star. Also, note that there will be special prizes handed out at the event. These are usually games, art, and specials, but may include sinister plots, if they are not in te bag. But its quite possible FFG overlooked the sinister plots when designing Daoloth, or came up with a Final Battle that doesnt need them, such as Azathoths.

I agree, revisiting the originals makes sense, perhaps some of the other original components as well. How about a 'munchkin blender' type small expansion designed to both update and make playing with lots of expansions more practical (not sure how this would be done, and I love trying to play with them all)

I'd certainly love to see special versions of the basic (classic) AOs and investigators as well.

esp. full bleed versions, i.e. unique formatting.

I hope these become available to the rest of us at some point.

Oh, I didn't think of that. Updating all the old AOs would be really cool. Well, potentially cool anyway. I have a soft spot in my heart for the fact that six of them use the six skills as defensive checks. As long as that's maintained in some way I would be happy. The best part is they don't need to get new Sinister Plot cards.

I'm not sure they'll be easily available, so in the meantime I'm going to experiment with color printing to see if I can get the AO backing color to look like the others, so that I'm ready to "Strange Eons" my own copies when the stars are right.

With the addition of Daoloth, almost all of Ramsey Campbell's ancient ones will be in Arkham Horror, with the exception of "The Horror Under Warrendown"

Its name is E'ilor. It is a plant-statue that turns its victims into mutant rabbit-cultists by feeding them its own tentacled vegetation.

Ehh.... we can do without that one.

It just occurred to me that "Warrendown" sounds like "Watership Down" which is a classic novel about the quest of a bunch of rabbits.

There is a post in the fan creation section where some suggestions are given on how to balance colours using photoshop for the purpose you mentioned, editing the eon exported files. Maybe this could be of some help!

I have the Cthulhu Mythos Encyclopedia 3rd ed. ( A must have in my opintion, only $18 USD ) and Daoloth sounds like a very interesting AO and really hope someone uploads him(it) at some point.

I hope the new (and improved) AO's will be released to us for free :)
