Where are all of the happy posts?

By Curator, in Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game

Kragg your hyperbole doesn't prove your point it gets you dismissed. If you want to be taken seriously try posting seriously.

I love this game too, and I'm so **** happy it's making me sick.

Happy sick.... my favour

No offence meant but the atmosphere on this part of the forums has been awful the last 2 or so months. Sometimes it feels like every thread is steering towards insults and mudthrowing but 'not quite' getting there. :(

No kidding, and there dosn;t appear to be any good REASON for it, there just appears to be some bad blood here these days. I few posts look they have been started with the sole purpose of shooting down players "skill level" and are boraderline troll posts. I have no ideal whats going on here but its getting depressing.

Especially since a lot of the other parts of the forum are extremely civil.

I suppose a part is due to (perceived?) imperfections and imbalances in the system that goes certain opinions to return a lot. Which causes frictions with others. But that can't be the core reason for it.

In any case, I do hope the atmosphere will 'lighten up' a bit.

My two cents?

Many players here are from the Games Workshop crowd. They are worse than Magic players when it comes to the dog eat dog attitude. Many other players are just FFG forumites and they are not used to seeing the uncivil side of the gaming world.

Ironic that I was a very helpful person and donated a ton of time to FFG and its player base, until the true side of GW fans showed their teeth in the war over second edition and third edition fantasy roleplaying game.

Meh

...

I am used to it after years of being apart of the GW (games workshop gui%C3%B1o.gif) world. I have learned that at the competitive levels games workshop fans are borderline psychos. That is why I stick to friendly games among people I know, when playing a games workshop related product.

You would have better luck reasoning with The Incredible Hulk (if he were real) than with the warhammer meta players.

That being said ... I did not read a single response in this thread lengua.gif. I was just having some good old psychotic fun. gran_risa.gif

On the banned/restricted:

I'm an old MTG player and it's as if the majority of the player base here hasn't put time in the trenches of the MTG realm. After the fourth or fifth time gathering the latest broken card to stay current in the meta for obscene $$ only to watch it get restricted, you get used to this kind of thing.

Sometimes, the dev team just doesn't think about a certain card, combo or strategy and it breaks the game. In magic, it's about every 1.5 cycles and they restrict or ban cards for different formats and game types.

Enter a LCG, where you really have a very small overall card pool and no massive amounts of reprinted cards with different names every few months. A card breaking or having a game killing mechanic has lasting effects beyond the norm.

The dev team knows how far out the fix is going to be. 1 month, 3, 6 - a year? two? They have already started testing product for this time next year or later. Odds are good they have a better idea of the meta and overall usage of the cards/combos now that the tourney scene has opened up and can start balancing over the next year or so.

IT IS pretty early to have a card banned or restricted however, if the meta game may be better off for it. If a fix is put in place 8 months from now, they can always print a similar card to the banned one down the road to bring back the concept or function.

Here is a couple cards banned in today's MTG extended cycle. It just happens.

As a newer LCG player:

How about a supplement printing to get all those nice cards that only had 1x print prior to the Enemy Cycle?

3x cards - fantastic idea. LCG with 1x of the cards you really want? ... seriously I don't want to purchase 2 more starter boxes and expansion sets just because they came out a while ago. There is no ebay economy to buy singles leaving little choice.

Why is there not corporate card database similar to The Gatherer? Had to make my own and the sweet art isn't there.

Happy Post:

The game is fun, the strategy is deep and the game mechanics are solid where it counts. I hope the lifespan of the game is very long.

deckbox.org does a great job as database and deckbuilding tool.

Not so sure that having players here with a M:TG background is terribly helpful anymore than not having that experience. People with expectations brought in from different games don't really help the discussion all the much here as this is (admittedly) a different game from Magic in several ways (though similar in some, I'll admit, too).

It just needs W:I players, plain and simple. Nothing more, nothing less. :)
