A lot of good topics lately folks. Keep them up.
Anyways, I got to thinking about why I think it's mistake not to include updated or new rules in the upcoming hardcover books. Although, I can understand the desire not to have to purchase another $100 in books when the core set is supposed to include it all, there are some gaping holes in the rules that need fixing/updating/refinement (for example: everything we've been discussing lately).
These rules updates could easily be put in a web enhancement for those of us sticking with the core set (Uncle Arkie and Me for example), and then fixed in the books, RATHER THAN putting out a defective/incomplete set of rules that players will suddenly have to ask themselves the same questions again and again. I believe this is their ONE CHANCE to fix things. I don't believe they're going to get a second chance with a 4th edition release in a year or two, because if half of the audience jumped ship with 3e, a 4e definitely would kill off the rest.
FFG is missing an opportunity to create the next D&D with WFRP (IMHO). They've obviously got a lot of money to pour into this, and rather than just making it a passing fancy, which is what I feel it's becomming, they could make it a titan of established roleplaying games.
This has successfully been done with the Warhammer 40k line. Heck, they've turned that into THREE games from one universe WITH NO EDITION CHANGE. Could this be done with WFRP? Could it be turned into the next D&D or what White Wolf had for WoD in the past instead of just a quick-sale and dump?
