Starting Adventure - Illumination

By TechVoid, in Dark Heresy

Hi folks,

I would like to know how anybody managed to DM the adventure in the core rulebook?

I thought of copying it. But this will not please the book. gui%C3%B1o.gif

Is there any possibility to get the adventure as a pdf file from fantasy flight games. Or how did you do it?

Thanks in advance,

TechVoid.

Why do you need to copy it in order to run the adventure?

I can see copies of the breifing and maps, as well as maybe of the NPC drawings being useful, but hardly necessary.

Not sure I see your problem.

Somehow I agree with you that there might be no problem at all.

But on the other hand I'd like to be able to use the book seperatly from running the adventure. If I have to look something up I will have to mark the current scene in the adventure and then flip afterwards back to it.

With a copy it is more comfortable.

Cheers,

TechVoid

Running it at the moment in a Play by Post game, and currently taking part in it via IRC. The ending is an absolute killer and it's a little linear, but it's good. I still recommend Edge of Darkness as a good starting mission, the pdf of which is freely available on the FFG website.

Personally I just used a bookmark. But if one thing you could do is prepare some clip-notes and use those as reference and just occasionally look over the adventure, its a bit more work but could work.

I read the core plot in illumination took notes on events that has to transpire and stats but as with most scenarios they never go exactly to plan so parts where swapped in and out it ended a lot sooner than in the book as parts where scrapped but the game flowed rather than along a line hard for the players to deter from.

I was able to run it quite smoothly. Luckily, the only things you would really need to copy (Or even just write down on extra paper) would be stat blocks for various encounters.

If you are against simple flipping of pages, just write down the needed stats and abilities for all the preplanned encounters, and any Important (Aka Named) NPCs on some notebook paper.

You could just buy the PDF of the rule book and print it out. Surits kind of expensive if thats the only reason you buy it, but still you could find other PDF uses for the book later on, Im sure.

You have room for one more in your play by post?
