Space Wolfs unite!

No need to listen to the DA just purge him for the heretic he is. gui%C3%B1o.gif

I was thinking of making a Dark Angel or Space Wolf marine, but I decided not to because I don't feel like working out that stupid "duel" the two chapters have every now and again. It's dumb and I don't want to do it. So I chose a Storm Warden instead.

Hope they make more official chapters SOON...

I think DAs will not be overly popular with players because they are the silent type and that will shy quite a few gamers away. Storm Wardens actually work quite well, I think. I like the chapter - although the revival of the old Warhammer dueling mechanics is a bit game-y.

And yes, more official chapters would be nice. What would also be nice was some official information (and maybe someone can ask FFG about this) which chapters will be made available in the near future. I would have long begun making the Crimson Fists but if in January or February the CF will be included in Rites of Battle (and I think they should be given their contributions to the DW gran_risa.gif ) the work would be made obsolete quickly.

So I'll wait instead.

Hell, I wanted to be a Dark Angel so I could be quiet and taciturn since I don't like talking too much in RPGs anyway. But, there's that dumb duel with Space Wolves that made me turn away from them...

Sure, before the book came out I entertained the idea of a DA Librarian (with the book in hand I tend to favour the BA Librarian though). I guess most players would prefer more outgoing types though.

I am pretty sure that in the deathwatch they do not duel each other. Why? Because they have bigger fish to fry, also their chapters themselves will deal with duels of honor. For that to make you not play one or the other is dumb. I really dont imagine a DA and SW DW marine fighting before every mission, infact I think they would not talk much to each other.

I say this because you can dislike or even hate one of your squad members, but you can still work with them for the greater good.

Watch that "greater good" talk... are you sure the Tau haven't got a mind control ray on you?

It's work together "for the glory of the Emperor."

If that were true, then I would play a Dark Angel for certain. But, from what local people have told me, they have done the duel before in the free adventure, and they wanting to do it again. Sorry, not interested in doing that. Besides, nothing wrong with Storm Wardens, and there's a Taciturn personal demeanor anyway.

That greater good you speak of smells of foul Tau influence brother! gui%C3%B1o.gif

Though I do agree that the Dark Angel and Space Wolf characters would have to work together just like a Black Templar and any librarian would have to.

Our group has the Dark Angel and Space Wolf together from the Demo adventure Final Sanction.

There were A LOT of great moments between those two characters... most notably try to out-compete each other in acts of bravery, killing, etc.

There was a moment where the player of the Dark Angel assault marine was about to make the killing blow on a rebel officer she was fighting and the space wolf player shot the rebel officer dead.

After the battle was over the Dark Angel walked over to the space wolf and said, "That was MY kill ! " and socked him in the face. gran_risa.gif

The Space Wolf just grinned and said "We'll settle this later".

Like a True space wolf. We do not fight allies while the enemy is near. Not like that cowardly Primach of the Dark Angels.

But in truth I have always seen the duels (from the space wolf side at least) as more brotherly in nature. I will ways try to out do you. Also only I can punch you in the face, and those chaos scum and xenos better think twice before they try to harm them. After all its Brother against brother, brothers against cousins, and the whole **** family against anyone else.

This is how I've always seen it. It used to be bitter hatred, but it has boiled down to little more than brotherly competition.

Alright, sounds like your on the right track.

For your 9 attributes, stats, whatever ya want to call them, they are 30 + sum of 2d10. You get one reroll. Technically, you are supposed to roll them in order (in other words, not pick what goes where), and then you pick a reroll. Personally, I just tell my players to roll 10 times, and pick what they want. Ask your GM first.

Past that, you then have 1000 xp to spend on talents, or skill trainings, as listed on the advancement tables from p60 - p90. As this is rank 1, you can only choose from rank 1 advance tables. As you are new to the deathwatch, you may not pick skills from the deathwatch advance table with the starting 1000xp. Chapter advancements do not have rank requirements. You can only buy skills from the general, your chapter, deathwatch, and your specialization tables.

You spend XP according to the cost listed on the advancement table (such as the Tech Use skill costing 800xp to train).

It sounds though that you have a notion that each skill has its own separate value (somewhat like skill ranks in D&D), this is not the case in the 40k RPGs. In this system, you spend XP to train a skill, and then later can buy a +10 or +20 improvement. Talents are like feats, and provide whatever their description states.

Skill training:

There are two types of skills, advanced and basic

basic - you can always roll a test on this skill, even untrained. If untrained, you roll at half your attribute + situational bonuses (so untrained in awareness, you roll half perception, although, you are always trained in awareness, as per starting skills on p36)

Advanced - you cannot roll unless trained

If trained, you roll at full attribute + bonuses

Do note that the character sheet has erros, check p36 to make sure you have everything.

On making a blood claw, it shouldn't be that hard, most of what you would want/need you already have trained.
