What would you most like to see?

By Mighty Jim 83, in 1. AGoT General Discussion

So presumably, for the near future at least, we will continue to get chapter packs on a monthly basis, and next year, some kind of mega-expansions for Targ and Lannister in the Spring and Autumn (to match up with Lords of Winter and Kings of the Storm.)

How about other expansions though, which would you MOST lIKE to see, and which do you think we are MOST LIKELY to see?

some thoughts:

  • a completists collection - 2x all the cards that were only issued in 1s under the old format of chapter packs
  • 2 or 3x re-print of Kings of the Sea, minus the resin house-card
  • Reprints of old chapter packs in new format
  • a cards-only core set, without the boards, plastic figures etc (and hopefully with reduced cost to match)
  • anything else.

I know various of these have been discussed separately, but I was just interested in which would be the most popular

That would definitely be my choice. That and a 2x (or 1x) cards only Core Set.

a 2 or 3x reprint of Kings of the Sea. I love House Greyjoy, but the squid are **** expensive!

Aside from what I would most like to see...the deluxe expansion release schedule would continue with GJ and Martell deluxe expansion after Targ & Lanni ones (hopefully one this X-mas and another in the spring).

Remember: GJ & Martell have only gotten each a Core Set equivalent expansion and not an extra deluxe expansion treatment that the other Core Set houses have gotten or are getting.

I just don't think Greyjoy and Martell would be at a disadvantage without a second House expansion. So what if the other houses have "more" cards, it all comes down to balance, and there is still alot of that going on. I'd rather see the next cycles of deluxe expansions focus on themes. Nights Watch v. Wildlings would have been an auto choice had they not had their own cycle. Perhaps some dual-house sets like the cards introduced for Tyrell and Bolton in House of Thorns, or some love for the larger neutral houses that we really haven't seen yet (Frey and Arryn come first to mind).

What I'd like to see in revised product is both the Chapter Pack upgrades of the 1x cards in a pack, and a Greyjoy set without the House card so it affordable for players to actually play the house of the kraken.

I'd prefer to have more variety out of GJ and Martell. Personally, I don't think GJ has a good, competitive build in Joust other than the Winter build. In fact, GJ seems to be a house with a variety of mechanics that just don't quite have enough to work. The same goes for Martell. As a Martell player, I'd love to have a reason to NOT play a Viper rush deck at a tourney.

The recent expansions seem to opening up different builds (i.e. Tully, Direwolf, Asshai, Knights). Both GJ and Martell should not be robbed of that.

Reprints of LCG cards aren't really my cup of tea, but I'm not completely opposed to the idea.

I would MOST LIKE to see (in order of priority):

1. A steady flow of chapter packs (monthly) and deluxe expansions (quarterly). The next two houses I would like to see get the deluxe expansion treatment are Targaryen and Greyjoy (also, a deluxe Greyjoy expansion would allow new players to get into Greyjoy for much cheaper).

2. "Completist Packs" for the four x1/x3 chapter pack cycles.

3. A resin Stark house card.

What I think we are MOST LIKELY to see (in order of likeliness):

1. A steady flow of chapter packs (monthly) and deluxe expansions (quarterly), with occasional delays.

Beyond that, I couldn't possibly speculate about what FFG might be contemplating.

However, I think a "cards-only" reprint of the Core Set or a x2-x3 reprint of the Greyjoy set is unlikely. I think a "Cycle Completist Pack" would be more likely simply because it would encourage consumers to buy an existing product (the chapter packs), while the "cheaper" reprints of the Core Set or the Greyjoy set would discourage consumers from buying existing product (the original Core Set and Greyjoy set).

But who knows?

1. After the Targ and Lannister deluxe expansions, I'd like to see a House Arryn deluxe box set introducing them to the game much the way Call of Cthulhu brought Silver Twilight into the game.

What would most likely come after? Not a House Arryn deluxe box set.

2. Completionist chapter packs would be nice, for Greyjoy box set as well. Seriously, who wants to spend three times as much on three boxes of Kings of the

3. Custom power counters for each house.

i play this game because of the books and how amazing i found them so keeping with the book series i would like to see a expansions for house arryn an expansion for house tyrell and a chapter pack series based on the ursurpers war

I definitely agree on Targ and Lannister expansions coming out soon and I am glad they are doing them 3x.

I'd like to see a redone Core Set with cards at least 2x instead of 1x

Mostly what I would to see from a design perspective is greater adherence to meaningful characters/events from the books. Basically my take mirrors the discussion on Painted Dogs. Why the Painted Dogs first?

The Black Ears, Stone Crows, Burned Men all had greater relevance to the stories so I think they should have made appearances first. I know that is a minor point. I'd like to see some characters we haven't seen yet in card form (a Hot Pie card would be great!).

Also I agree that House Arryn would be nice but definitely not as another Great House. I think the Neutral House Card was a great solution to encompass all sorts of sub-themes and other Houses such as House Arryn.

Hmm, I might change my mind on this one. bloodycelt made a good point and upon thinking further I think what I would most like to see is Game of Thrones expand into a greater game than it was before and to do that I think the game design needs to break a little from just reprinting and recreating the old CCG environment. That is why I loved the introduction of the new shadows mechanic because it expanded the game.

I would be interested in see new sub-theme type game mechanics (like shadows) and I upon thinking about introducing House Arryn as a Great House could accomplish some new and interesting things in this game and take it in positive new directions at a time when the new HBO series could really raise the awareness of the game.

The other thing I want to argue for is hopefully no retirement of CP sets. The great thing about GoT CCG was the variety of possible builds. I think we are slowly getting to point where LCG finally has a large diversity of competitive builds. Hopefully the game will continue to move in that direction. having a huge card pool is a good thing :)

indeed- there's no justice in a world that has 4 Joffreys and no Hot Pie.

Hopefully in this brotherhood with banners cycle, we'll get a proper Gendry card (as opposed to something generic with artwork that might be Gendry)

I would love to see Arryn become their own - 7th Great House. After eight + years of gaming are we still that married to the 6 House model? I think the game can handle it.

You, Sir, are a man of great wisdom.

Ser Gregor Clegane.

Besides him a neutral faction theme build around a circle of spies theme. So something which allows to bring back some cards of that promo deck we had in the past with cards like Varys, Littlefinger, Pycelle, small council events, spies and traitors. Possibly an agenda which allows to run the house x only traitors of the raven chapter pack cycle and maybe grants some additional advantage like Varys can´t be killed.

Don´t get me wrong i don´t want that whole damned game text of circle of spies back, just something which supports that theme. I think we rarely had an spy and traitor theme in the game outside of the promo deck.

a lot of charcter cards i would want to see

Ser Gregor Clegane

Ser Arthur Dayne the Sword of Morning

The White Bull

Mad King Aerys

Brandon Stark

Lyanna Stark

the Smiling Knight

Genna Lannister

Prince Aemon the Dragonknight

Tommen Lannister

Rickson Stark

Roose Bolton

i also would really like to see some of the older Legendary characters from each house

Aegon the Conqueror

Bran the Builder

the Grey King

Nymeria Martell

Orys Baratheon

Lann the Clever

Arthur Dayne and Tommen are cards in the LCG environment - both are somewhere in the Ravens cycle chapter packs.

There are a lot of characters from the current timeframe I'd rather see before the legendary ones - but either way I'd rather see new uniques vs new versions of exiting characters and locations.

Since I'm seeing some people asking for some nuetrals - the next nuetral faction/trait I'd like to see would be the Brave Companions/Bloody Mummers. I think they could help fill in a lot of other themes at the same time also. We haven't seen a LCG Vargo Hoat; Qyburn would give another nuetral learned crest, Zollo a nuetral dothraki (which there should be more of IMO), Shagwell a fool, and Utt another septon or holy crest.

Hmmmmm.....Vargo Hoat hasn't been around for a while. This is true.
