Recharge Tokens.. and Story Mode

By Galdor, in WFRP Rules Questions

Galdor, Shinma and dear Monkeylite, I am so happy that you all took a step back and regained your balance (rallystep). I know Perfectly well why get into this heated discussions, we love WFRP so much we are ready to fight for it. and that might sometimes turn fellow RPGer against fellow RPGer.

But Galdor I was almost ready to congratulate Shima for a well made attack on you.But I edited the post, after re-reading all the post on this thread. I say this so I wont appear as an hypocrite (if you read some of my more embarrasing posts, you know I not afraid of sticking to what I mean).

But now my troopers, go out and meddle (negotiate?) peace in the middle- east, you've earned it gui%C3%B1o.gif

And Galdor, if you would like to re-phrase your questions, I would try to pitch in, see if we can get a fresh perspective on things.

My question is quite simple and it's included in my opening Post:

in "Encounter Mode" you can remove one recharge token from each card at the end of character's turn...

but if session is running in "Story Mode" WHEN and HOW can you remove recharge tokens from cards?

OK: Monkeylite told me that -when Encounter Mode is over and Story Mode is beginning- I can remove all recharge tokens from cards.

Shinma reinforced Monkeylite's suggestion saying to think logically: if every round you can remove a recharge token, well, if encounter mode is over you should sit down and waiting for 5 or 6 rounds to remove all recharge tokens or remove them without wasting time.

Shinma and Monkeylite suggestions showed me wrong, in my humble opinion, beacause you can't think that Story Mode being equal to Encounter Mode... infact there are NOT rounds in Story Mode, so -"thinking logically"- you cannot use, in Story Mode, the same rules about recharging in encounter mode... simply because, when Encounter Mode is over and Story Mode is started, there are NOT rounds any more.

At last I solved my question by myself! happy.gif ... simply reading Player's Guide Preview, downloading "Game Modes" pdf:

http://www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffg_content/wfrp/news/players-guide/WHF11_GameModes.pdf

In paragraph entitled "Recharge in Story Mode" rules state clearly:

"Without discrete turns or rounds to govern the recharge mechanic,
actions with a recharge value behave differently in story mode as
compared to encounter mode.

As a rule of thumb, each time the scene shifts or an event occurs
in story mode, each player should remove one recharge token
from each of his recharging actions, talents, conditions, or other
recharging cards."

Yeah that Story mode PDF was a treasure trove! If FFG only had included it in the original books...I got most of it wrong, and was happy when it came out. My point is that most of us where wrong because FFG hadn't given it more thought. We where all susceptible to our own interpredations. But it's good to know that FFG is taking measures to correct it. I hope they will give us more PDFs about these issues, so that we who have already purchased the BOXED version of the game, will not need to buy the hardcovers, just to be able to understand the game fully...oh, who am I kidding, I will propably buy the hardcover books anyway, I'm a sucker for all things made FFGbabeo.giflengua.gifgui%C3%B1o.gif

I'm a sucker too for all things made FFG...

... but I still think that who have already purchased the Core-Box should have rules explanations for FREE, and should not pay because Core-Box rules were not written clearly (or bugless)!! gui%C3%B1o.gif

Some of new player's guide contents are just rules clarifications or bug covering issues... so, maybe, it could be more correct if FFG will give us such info throught FAQ pdf... free!

Don't u think so?

Not really. You already have the information about all erratas and clarifications avaible. The book is just a new format for the player oriented infos, no new rules, no new materials. Just the existing compiled into one as lots of players asked about it (not everyone is a GM, no box purchase needed).

I agree, but the book includes also Rules CLARIFICATIONS and Bug-Fixing Issues about Core-Box!!!

Don't you think that such parts should be available FREE for all people who have already bought Core-Box?
