Multiple Hits, Damage and Armor explained

By ChaosPhoenix, in Rogue Trader Rules Questions

Hello again,

I just want to get multiple hits & damage straight. If you use a automatic weapon and score additional hits due to your successes, is every hit resolved like a single hit?

E.g. you score 3 hits. You roll damage dice + x and substract Toughness and Armor, three times. Or do you add up all damage to a damage total and substract Toughness and Armor.

I've got the same question for Space Combat ;) .

And another one. Does tearing work on multiple hits too, everytime? You roll 2 dice for every hit and discard the lowest?

Multiple hits: Every hit is resolved seperatety and TB and AP are calculated against every hit seperatetly. So if a character suffered three hits, damage is rolled three times and AP and TB are subtracted three times from that.

Exceptions are the Dual Shot and Dual Strike talents. When they are used, TB is only subtracted once, but AP subtracted multiple times as normal.

Edit: Originally misread the Tearing question. Below is the real answer.

Yes, Tearing applies to every additional hit.

Since it's rather counter-intuitive, it might be prudent to add that Starship combat has an exception: All the hits of a salvo are added up before armour is deducted.
