Eldar Craftworld - Calixis Sector

By cappadocius, in Dark Heresy

According to the Lexicanum (one of the best 40K wikis I've found) as of 998M41, the Eldar Craftworld Il-Kaithe will be passing through or very, very close to the Calixis Sector. Now, I don't think the Craftworlds travel the Webway, and it'd be stupid for them to Warp dive, so they're limited to relativistic speeds, meaning that in the default DH year 815M41, Il-Kaithe is passing through or very, very close to the Calixis Sector. Anyone know of some source info on Il-Kaithe Craftworld?

Eldar Activity

Hmmmm Tyrant Star?

Doing some research on my own - turns out work at the University during winter break is just as dead as it's been in years past. :)

Il-Kaithe are noted for their constant war against Chaos, and their incredibly talented Bonesingers; it's said they can Bonesing during combat! Their colors are purple with green highlights.

And this seems to be the entirety of the official fluff. So what's our unofficial fluff; also, anyone think Il-Kaithe will be in Creature Anathema?

Oops! Their colors are green with purple highlights.

If you´ve got nothing against fannon, Il-Kathe Craftworld is featured in Bell of Lost Souls Macharian Crusade Campaign, with some nice pieces of stuff about them in it. According to FoT, Il-Kathe was located in the places of Macharian Crusade, but after being badly hurt by Macharius´ armies (can´t remember which army group) and Black Templars, they retreated to galactic north (so, it´s not completly impossible for it to float around Calixis Sector)

I would love it if the Eldar would show up in the Calixis sector, maybe in an official scenario babeo.gif

Unfortunately, Disciples of the Dark Gods tells us how rarely Eldars are venturing into in the Calixis (see page 74 under Shuriken Weapons) since they think the area is cursed.

Any thoughts on this curse? Tyrant star perhaps?

I'm sure you have noticed by now, but there is going to be Eldar stuff in CA. Have a look at the overview if you haven't seen it.

Because it has been mentioned that they rarely visit Calixis, I wouldn't be surprised if the ones that turn up are exodites, outcasts or the like. Maybe a webway portal being manned by a warlock and a few aspect warriors- that sort of thing, but I doubt a whole craftworld.

I haven't formed 'my Komus' yet (who has?) gui%C3%B1o.gif but as my players get the clues I definitely want the Eldar involved. My players don't know much about the 40k universe so I want them unsettled as they witness the more capricious side of the 'space elves'!

Biggest problem with Eldar rules is you can guarantee that within 30 seconds of them being publish someone will be begging to be allowed to play one as a character, and they won't shut up until you let them.

Personally I think that Eldar are as much of 40k as Space Marines and Genestealers and it would just be 'wrong' for them to be ignored. Lets face it, if FFG dont write rules for them, several squillion DH fans will. I would say a lone Eldar pathfinder would make a great neutral NPC, and the rules for him would give us the feel for them, similar to the marine from PtU did.

Ask them to come up with a detailed premise about their interpretation of Eldar culture, one sufficient to actually allow playing them from the tattered 'fluff' that GW has produced for them. You would be surprised how much of them are shut up when they are faced with that premise. And for those that aren't? Well, is that a bad thing? gran_risa.gif

Yes, but they haven't detailed human culture yet, so i'll be surprised if we get anything more than a hand wave at the various Eldar Codexes, a shoulder shrug, and some recycled pictures... preocupado.gif (i really hope to be proved wrong by the way)

Frankly Kage, the stuff over at Anargo is probably a better bet for those looking for Eldar info...or for a different take, Phil Sibberings stuff... gui%C3%B1o.gif gran_risa.gif

of course, so of the closest stuff we've got for Eldar characterisation, from a background perspective at least, is the old Arethi-whats-his-face-ial Swiftblade Inquisitor character article, and the attendant GMs roleplay tips in Heavensfall. Limited of course, but as good a starting point as any. And Luddites right, roleplaying any one from the 41st milklenium is guess work, pointy ears or not. happy.gif

The original article in White Dwarf - 127 (?) that introduced the new look (pretty much as they are at present) had some nice fluff and interactions between Eldar. There is at least one novel that is set on a (unusual and declining) Craftworld.

Thx.

It was book 3 of the Inquisitor Conspiracies series. Game supplements for inquisitor. The other two were Cirian Legacy and Death of An Angel. Quite a good source of plot hooks etc for a Dark heresy game. i expect you can still get them from specialist games or Ebay
